Violent suffering arises, such as being beaten, limbs being severed, and being split apart. At that time, if the heads and waists of the gods are not severed, even if vital points are struck, they revive. The Asuras, like humans, die when vital points are struck. It is said that the image of their death appears on the golden ground in a lake called "Kunsnang (All-Appearing)," and before the war is over, relatives are afflicted with sorrow. Most Asuras belong to the dark side and dislike the Dharma. Even if some have faith, they are obscured by the obscuration of karmic ripening, and have no chance to realize the distinctions.

There is intense suffering such as fighting and arguing, and the body being cut and divided by swords, and being killed, etc. Second, the suffering of the upper realms: In the form and formless realms, although the suffering of suffering does not manifest, it does not go beyond the nature of the suffering of conditioning. And because they are like being intoxicated in samadhi, individual beings do not increase their qualities, and because they taste the flavor of samadhi, they cannot bear to be separated from the samadhi that tastes the flavor, and therefore their individual samadhis decline and they die. In particular, when the beings who dwell there exhaust the momentum of their past karma, they will again take birth in the desire realm. When they cultivated worldly samadhi in the past, at that time they seemed to be dwelling in ease equal to the formless realm samadhi, but it is unreliable, like an arrow shot into the sky, when the momentum of contaminated virtue is exhausted, they will again fall into the lower realms. As it says in the Letter to a Friend: "The pleasures of the heavenly realms are very great, and having attained the bliss of detachment from desire as Brahma, one becomes firewood for the fire of Avici again, constantly experiencing uninterrupted suffering." It is like that. Therefore, just as fire, whether large or small, does not depart from heat, this three realms of samsara, no matter where one is born, high or low, does not depart from the nature of suffering. Wherever one dwells, it is a place of suffering; whoever one associates with, is a friend of suffering; whatever one enjoys, it does not depart from the enjoyment of suffering. As it says in the Uttaratantra: "There is no fragrance in impurity, there is no happiness in the five realms, their suffering is always like the touch born of fire, sword, salt, etc." It should be understood like this. Next is the nature of the three sufferings: In general, the suffering of samsara has two aspects, cause and effect. The first is: gods and humans, retinues and enjoyments are complete, but they are occupied by unwholesome thoughts, and their actions are the performance of sinful deeds, etc. The second is: the three lower realms and the impoverished in the higher realms, physical illness, and the mind being occupied by sorrow, etc. That suffering can also be summarized into three types: the suffering of suffering, the suffering of change, and the suffering of pervasive conditioning.

There are three kinds of suffering. The first is: for example, like applying poison to a wound, feelings such as heat and cold, hunger and thirst, are all suffering. Mainly in the three lower realms. The second is: for example, like relying on fire in cold weather, life and enjoyment, even including the bliss of meditation, these are all feelings of happiness, mainly in humans and the gods of the desire realm. The third is: for example, like a thirsty person drinking salty water, it is the basis of those two sufferings—the aggregates of taking up actions, this is merely the place where all suffering arises. From this, all sufferings such as birth and old age arise in order. When it only has neutral feeling, it is only touched by the suffering of conditioning, mainly in the four dhyanas. Therefore, it is said in the sutras: Whatever feeling there is, therefore everything is suffering. That is also what it means. If you cannot be liberated from this, you cannot be liberated from the other two, you should know that it is like a tree that will not fall until its roots are cut. Like that, tormented without interruption by the three sufferings, no matter where you are born in the high or low places of samsara, it is only the nature of suffering. In the Mindfulness Sutra, it says: Sentient beings in hell are tormented by the fires of hell, hungry ghosts are tormented by hunger and thirst, animals are tormented by eating each other, humans are tormented by short lives, gods are tormented by carelessness. In samsara, even in a place as small as the tip of a needle, there is never happiness. Therefore, it is said: One must escape from those suffering-filled samsaras like a criminal escaping from prison. The way to be liberated from it is to correctly accept and reject the results of karma, to confess with strong remorse for the sins committed in the past, and to vow not to commit them in the future. Moreover, since the obstacle that prevents the arising of the realization of the profound path is sin and obscuration, it must be purified. The ritual for purifying it is to practice the meditation and recitation of Vajrasattva as yoga. In the Vajrasattva Hundred Syllable Mantra King Tantra, Vajrasattva said this: Please listen, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and all the holy beings of all realms, I will speak the essence of the heart of all the Buddhas of the three times, please universally bless me. Kye Kye!
