When preparing to go elsewhere, one lies on the final bed. Submerged in the continuous cycle of birth, old age, sickness, and death, which has no beginning. Life is only a little bit left. Terrified by the messengers of Yama, one falls into the clutches of evil. The breath stops, the mouth and nose gape open, the teeth clench. Give alms! Thus, one prays. From the existence of karma, one enters into existence. Alone, without a companion. Abandoning this world, one goes to another world. The great one rises, enters into great darkness, falls into a great abyss, enters into a dense forest, goes to a solitary temple, is carried away by the great ocean, is driven by the wind of karma, goes to a direction where there is no foothold, enters into a great battlefield, is seized by a great demon, clings to the sky. Surrounded by father, mother, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters. The breath stops, and they say to divide the wealth. Alas, my father! Alas, my mother! Alas, my son! Thus, they say. The hair is disheveled, and only generosity, asceticism, and Dharma become friends. There is no other refuge than the Dharma, no other protector, no other support. In the time of that great king, the Dharma will become an island, a dwelling, a protector, and a teacher. In such a king's time, while lying on his own bed, experiencing the visions of the afterlife, and falling into the lower realms, a sense of fear arises for that place. At that time, nothing other than the Dharma can become a refuge. Great king, even if you protect this body in this way, even if you are born perfectly, you will still face the moment of death. Possessing all virtues, enjoying pure things such as food and drink for a long time, and nourishing the body in this way, eventually, on the final bed, the doctor abandons you, everyone abandons you, and you meet the moment of death in discomfort. Great king, even if you wash, anoint, and incense this body, and adorn it with fragrant flowers, it will eventually become impure and emit an unpleasant odor. Great king, even if you cover the body with fine clothes such as Kashi cotton and silk, eventually, on the final bed

While abiding in this, one dies wearing defiled clothes, and goes alone naked. Great King, even though delighted by various qualities of desire, one must abandon all that and die without being satiated by desire. Great King, just like this, you possess incense, flowers, silk canopies, cushions, and various clothes in your home, and lie on a bed with pillows on the left and right, but eventually you will be abandoned in a great charnel ground filled with crows, foxes, and repulsive corpses, lying motionless on the ground, and devoured by demons. Great King, just like this, you ride on elephants and horses, etc., and are delighted by the sweet and pleasing varieties of music, raise banners and umbrellas, etc., and are praised by kings, ministers, and friends with sweet words, and you walk under their gaze, but soon after, you will die in bed, be carried by four people, and your parents and siblings, etc., will raise their arms, beat their chests, and be overwhelmed by sorrow, and you will be carried out of the city's south gate, buried underground in a wilderness cemetery, or eaten by crows, vultures, and foxes, etc., and those bones will either be burned by fire, thrown into water, or buried underground. Even if buried underground, they will be ground into powder by wind, sun, and rain, scattered in all directions, and rot. Great King, just like this, all compounded things are impermanent, and are unstable. As it is extensively said in the scriptures, remember from the depths of your heart, and know that any appearances of this life are meaningless, and strive day and night to practice the one and only Dharma. Furthermore, Brahma, Mahadeva, Vishnu, Indra, and the Four Great Kings who protect the world, etc., whose fame of merit pervades heaven and earth, who are the lords of the three realms of underground, above ground, and heaven, and are adorned with sacred wealth, also have the time of death. As it says in the scriptures: Brahma and the powerful Indra with a thousand eyes, and even the son without desire, are also impermanent and must go to the next life. The sun and moon are only a moment of play, and look at the great earth and the world of the four continents that will be destroyed. And so on. Similarly, the gods of the four dhyanas, etc.
