This is Tara. These rules are the key points of all practices, from the Abhisamayalankara: Offer flowers and seats, restrain the conduct of the place, do not harm all sentient beings, pray to the Lama, listen to the Lama's instructions without distraction, ask about faults to dispel thoughts, Tara is endowed with six limbs. Thus it is said. Tara is said because the listener himself meditates as Tara or Manjushri. Being endowed with six limbs means being endowed with the six perfections. The Samadhi at the time of listening to the Dharma is like this: As the Wish-Fulfilling Treasure Mine says: He also thinks of himself as Manjushri, and thinks that the light of the Dharma shines in his heart. Thus it is said. Therefore, if the listeners are male, they should visualize Manjushri as red or yellow, holding a sword and a book on a Utpala flower. If they are female, they should visualize the green Tara, holding a Utpala flower. The speaker's mouth emits the light of the Dharma, which shines in his heart, dispelling the darkness of ignorance, thinking that the lotus of wisdom is blooming, and listening without distraction, one should practice in this way. These are the characteristics and necessities of the listener. That is common to both the teacher and the student, and the benefits of listening to the Dharma are: The Sutra says: In order to indicate the time of expounding the Dharma, the sound of beating a drum or a bell, if one can attain enlightenment after hearing it, what need is there to say more for listening to the Dharma? Thus it is said. In addition, one can obtain immeasurable benefits. Therefore, listen carefully in a way that is free from the three faults and the six stains. Among them, the types of Dharma to be heard, as mentioned above, the precious human body endowed with the eighteen leisures and endowments is difficult to obtain. In the world, it is difficult for the Udumbara flower to appear. In the great ocean, it is difficult for a blind turtle's neck to enter the yoke hole. Even if beans are scattered on a wall covered with mud, they will not stick, etc., which illustrates how difficult it is to obtain through metaphors. The foundation of a large pile of grain is like the three lower realms, which are numerous and have great suffering. The top of the grain pile is like the three higher realms, but even among these, the human body with Dharma is extremely rare.

No. Furthermore, the beings in the lower realms are like the dust of the earth, while the beings in the higher realms are only like the dust on a fingernail. Even among those in the higher realms, individuals endowed with Dharma are extremely rare, difficult to find in terms of numbers. Because the law of karma is infallible, one must be born and act in accordance with the Dharma, diligently engaging in virtue and abandoning sin and non-virtue, to obtain the precious human body with leisure and endowment. Sin, non-virtue, and attachment to samsara lead to traversing the states of the lower realms. Therefore, in terms of cause, it is difficult to obtain. Thus, the precious human body with leisure and endowment, which is difficult to obtain in terms of analogy, number, and cause, is also easily destroyed and of an impermanent nature. As the Omniscient Longchen Rabjam said: "Even if you obtain this precious leisure that is so difficult to find, it is momentary, impermanent, and of the nature of destruction. If you analyze it, there is no essence at all. Like a bursting bubble, it is unreliable. Day and night, constantly contemplate death." Therefore, having obtained the precious human body, it cannot remain permanent even for a moment. Like a banana tree, it has no essence. It cannot withstand rational analysis, like a water bubble, which, although appearing whole for a while, will eventually have its parts break apart and separate. This should be contemplated. In the Compendium of Special Sayings, it says: "Alas! All conditioned things are impermanent, of the nature of arising and ceasing. Having arisen, they cease again. It is better to quickly cease and attain happiness. Like a flickering star, a butter lamp, an illusion, a dewdrop, a water bubble, a dream, lightning, and a cloud, all conditioned phenomena are like that." Thus, this impermanent and changing body, devoid of essence, will eventually separate and be without support. Therefore, abandon attachment to the body and constantly focus the mind on impermanence day and night. Now, always clinging to one's own body as "I" and "mine," offering it food and clothing, attending to it in various ways, and becoming unhappy and retorting even if others say a few unpleasant words, and striving to avoid harm. However, when the Lord of Death arrives unexpectedly, causing the separation of body and mind, this body cannot follow us but remains behind, to be eaten by vultures, dogs, foxes, crows, wild animals, and so on. Carefully contemplate the meaninglessness of cherishing this and creating sin for its sake, and then treat the body like a servant.

They should be employed in virtuous deeds as if they were land. Appropriate wages of food and clothing should be given, and they should be diligent in their duties day and night. In the Sutra on Admonishing the King, it says: "Great King, know this: For example, mountains from the four directions, possessing a solid and stable core, not collapsing, not cracking, extremely hard, immovable, four towering and beautiful peaks touching the sky and pressing down on the earth, crushing all roots, trees, gums, branches, and leaves, and all living beings. When they come crushing down, it is not easy to escape by running quickly, or to resist with strength, or to bribe with wealth, or to ward off with objects, mantras, and medicines. Great King, know that similarly, four great fears will come, and it is not easy to escape from them by running quickly, or to resist with strength, or to bribe with wealth, or to ward off with objects, mantras, and medicines. What are the four? They are aging, sickness, death, and decay. Great King, aging destroys youth and comes. Sickness destroys health and comes. Decay destroys all perfections and comes. Death destroys life and comes. It is not easy to escape from these by running quickly, or to resist with strength, or to bribe with wealth, or to pacify with objects, mantras, and medicines. Great King, know this: For example, the lion, the king of beasts, enters among the beasts, seizes them, and controls them as he pleases. Those beasts, seized by unbearable force, cannot resist and become powerless. Great King, similarly, seized by the messenger of the Lord of Death, one is separated from vitality, without a protector, without refuge, without an army, without relatives, joints loosen and separate, flesh and blood dry up, the body is tormented by disease, thirst is unbearable, the face changes, hands and feet tremble, one cannot work, there is no strength, saliva, mucus, urine, and vomit cover the body, the senses of eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind are blocked, hiccups occur, a rough sound comes out, one is abandoned by doctors, medicines, food, edibles, and drinks are all abandoned, unable to approach, and one is about to depart."
