The leaves are moved by the wind, chopping flesh and bones into pieces, then reviving, and again suffering the pain of being chopped. These four places are located in the east of Avici Hell. Similarly, there are four in the south, and four each in the west and north, totaling sixteen. In the four corners are trees called "Shalmali," which are the places of rebirth for beings who commit adultery and engage in improper conduct. Upon arriving there, At the top, the sound of joyful and sorrowful companions calling out arises, and the mind is swayed. Simultaneously, propelled by karmic winds, before reaching the top, the tips of the weapon-like leaves pierce and chop downwards. That which is called "kyi hud" is called "kyi hud pa." Among those, with the power of cold increasing sevenfold, the skin of the body turns bluish-black and splits into four pieces, which is called splitting like an উৎপল (Tibetan, Devanagari, utpala, English: blue lotus). The flesh and skin of the body split into eight pieces, turning outwards, with the red not visible on the outside, which is called splitting like a lotus. Even more so, with the cold increasing sevenfold, the body splits into sixteen pieces, connected by thin water veins, dividing into many parts, and the color turns reddish-black, which is called splitting like a great lotus. Like that, countless worms with sharp iron beaks eat inside the wounds, which is unbearable suffering. Those eight cold hells, from the first to the one below, the intensity of the cold increases sevenfold, therefore they are divided into eight distinctions. That which is called "sunstroke" is: without a fixed place or location, approaching between stones and rocks, being wrapped in icy caves, being boiled in hot springs, being frozen in ice water, grasping trees as one's own body and taking on the suffering of being cut and chopped, grasping houses, doors, and all hollow things as one's body and having others perform actions inside them, and at the time of opening and cutting doors, also enduring suffering like opening their mouths and taking things out, like lifting the roof of a house with one's head, the body being wrapped and bound on a hollow saddle, experiencing general suffering, grasping an iron pot as one's body and having fire burning inside, taking a broom and winnowing basket as one's body and being used by others, grasping a rope as one's body and experiencing the suffering of being used by oneself and others, vessels and pillars also being grasped as one's own body, filling them, emptying them, and everything that others do becomes harmful to them, enduring suffering, and becoming very weak. Oṃ (Tibetan, Devanagari, oṃ, English: Om)! Rope! Like this, having understood these eighteen kinds of places, taking those sufferings onto one's own mindstream, generating the appearance of experiencing them, and diligently training the mind, in the end, when fear, fright, and terror arise, just thinking of those sufferings in the mind is like that, so how could one endure it if it actually fell upon oneself! Therefore, if one does not strive for the means of liberation, thinking that one will die now, then strive for virtue.
