Dwelling in the Chakra of Great Bliss, the essence of detachment; I pray to the precious Lama; Bless me, the incomparable Lord of kindness. Samaya! Firstly, as the beginning of the four thoughts that turn the mind, the common outer preliminary practice, contemplate the difficulty of obtaining leisure and fortune: Remember the qualities of the precious human body that possesses the eighteen perfections of leisure and fortune; Know the nature of leisure and fortune itself: The meaning of 'leisure' is eight leisures; There are four outer non-freedoms and four inner non-freedoms; The first four outer non-freedoms are: If born in hell, one experiences the suffering of heat and cold in cycles, without leisure; If born in the realm of hungry ghosts, one is constantly tormented by intense hunger and thirst, without leisure; If born as an animal, one is exhausted in the darkness of great ignorance, without leisure; If born among the long-lived gods, one has no thought of practicing Dharma, thus no leisure; Not being born in any of those places, but obtaining a human body, is leisure. The four inner non-freedoms are: Even if one obtains a human body, there are also non-freedoms within it, such as: If born in a barbarian land, one does not believe in the Buddha's teachings, thus no leisure; If born among those with wrong views, one turns away from the Dharma and individuals, thus no leisure; If born in a remote land where there is no Buddha's teaching, there is not even the sound of Dharma, thus no leisure; If born as a mute, one has no ability to understand the meaning of words, thus no leisure; Not becoming any of those eight, one obtains the eight qualities of leisure, thus it is called leisure. Speaking of fortune, there are also ten: There are also five fortunes that depend on oneself, and five fortunes that depend on others; The five fortunes of oneself are: If one does not obtain a human body, one does not encounter the Dharma, but now one has obtained the fortune of a human body as a basis; If one is not born in the center of a country, the Dharma does not flourish, but now one is born in the center of a country where the Dharma flourishes, thus one obtains the fortune of a place of birth; If the senses are incomplete, one is not suitable as a vessel for the Dharma. (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Meaning) oṃ (ओँ,oṃ,嗡): But now that all the senses are complete, one obtains the fortune of the senses as a vessel; Servants and slaves who have reversed the limits of karma have no autonomy, If it is not stable, then ordinary people have the intention to enter the Dharma.

Not even a moment arises, and the three doors turn away from the path of Dharma, mingling with the ranks of the vulgar. These are those of meager fortune, deluded by demons. Not having become like that, now the end of karma has not turned back, having faith in the Dharma, obtaining autonomy, thereby obtaining the wealth of auspicious circumstances. Not believing in places of inverted faith, such as evil borderlanders and heretics, not believing and not being deceived by the extraordinary teachings, having faith in the Three Jewels, this is the wealth of faith. These five are complete in oneself, and the five other circumstances that depend on a place are: If the Buddha had not come into the world, the Dharma would not flourish. Now, encountering the time when the unsurpassed, perfect Buddha has come into this world, is the circumstance of an extraordinary teacher. Although the Buddha has come, if the Dharma is not taught, there is no benefit. Now, encountering the profound path that reveals the entrances of the three types of individuals separately. Although there is the precious teaching of the Victorious One, if one encounters the time of its decline, there is no benefit. Now, encountering the time when the teachings do not decline but remain, is the circumstance of the precious teaching of the Victorious One. Although there is the Buddha's teaching, if one does not enter into it oneself, there is no benefit. Now, one has already entered the door of the teachings, this is one's own circumstance of fortune. Although there is the mind to enter the teachings, if one does not meet a lama, a virtuous spiritual friend, one does not understand the truth of the Dharma. Now, encountering an excellent virtuous spiritual friend, and being taken care of oneself, is the circumstance of a holy lama, these are called the ten circumstances. The complete fulfillment of all these is known as the precious human body of leisure and endowment, which is the source of constant bliss and accomplishment, like a wish-fulfilling jewel. If even one of these is missing, it only appears to be a human body, and cannot be called a human body of leisure and endowment. Such a precious human body is the result of good deeds in the past, a good bodily support that surpasses the gods, and is the supreme of the three realms. Now, in general, among the six realms of beings, most of those who have obtained a precious human body are engaged only in non-virtuous actions, and there is no other path than to fall into the lower realms, having firm conviction in this.
