The Dharma that Differentiates ༄༅། །The teaching of the arising of things. First, there are two parts: first, the way in which the illusion of samsara does not abide in reality is shown, and second, the nature of non-delusion, the original ground, is shown as the dharmakaya and wisdom. First: Like this, from the arising of the thought of grasping and being grasped, the way in which samsara and nirvana appear separately without moving from the expanse of the ground is as follows. As it is said in the Root Tantra of Sound Transcending, "The one cause, the inseparable root, not knowing its own face, this is the beginning of samsara." Therefore, by summarizing all the dharmas of samsara into the two, grasping and being grasped, and determining them, the life force of delusion will be quickly cut off. Therefore, here too, the two, grasping and being grasped, are determined. Moreover, considering that it is easy to understand the extremely subtle points by first determining them from coarse to fine, grasping and being grasped are also shown in three divisions: outer, inner, and secret. Among them, here, first determining the outer grasping and being grasped, there are three parts: first, determining the self-grasping of the person who grasps as selflessness, second, determining the self-grasping of the dharma that is grasped as selflessness, and third, summarizing these into one emptiness. First, there are two parts: teaching and explanation. First is the teaching, which is taught from "discriminating wisdom" to "does." That is, the wisdom vajra that arises from the power of discriminating wisdom, with its sharpness, completely destroys the mountain of samsara, which arises from the self-grasping of the essence and is stable and majestic due to the habits practiced from beginningless time, in this way. The second part has two parts: first, identifying the self-grasping that is the root of existence, and second, showing that it is empty by mere appearance. First: "The root of samsara is grasping at 'I'," as it is said. That is, the root of wandering in samsara is that in the expanse of the ground, there is no 'I', but the consciousness that grasps at 'I' continues, so that all appearances and minds suddenly arise without being there. The reason for this is that if there is a thought that grasps at 'I', then the two, appearance and mind, will also arise naturally, this is the nature of dharma. If there is no thought that grasps at 'I', it will not arise, which has been established by scripture, reason, and valid cognition. Therefore, the thought that grasps at 'I' in the state of no-self is undoubtedly the root of samsara. Second, it is taught from "place of origin" to "arriving," such a self is the place of origin, ༄༅། །Three and

Regarding the method of understanding emptiness by analyzing names and things: All phenomena and existences initially arise from the self (བདག,Ātman,Self,自我), therefore they are empty of other places of origin; in the middle, because they abide in the nature of the self, they are empty of other places of abiding; finally, because they vanish together with the self, they are empty of other places of going. Similarly, regarding the method of the non-establishment of the basis upon which the name of the self is posited: Among the two, body and mind, the self or name is not established on the body, because each part of the body also has its own name, not the name of the self. Even when limbs are gathered together, they are only called "gathering" or "body," not the name of the self. For the mind that is separated from the basis, there is also only the name of the mind, not the name of the self. Therefore, because the basis upon which the name of the self is posited is empty, there is no self or name. Furthermore, there is no self that is established as a substance separate from body and mind; if it existed, it should be able to appear, therefore it must be able to be pointed out, but in reality, it cannot be pointed out. Therefore, the self is not established as a substance or entity. In short, because the self does not have a basis upon which a name can be posited, there is no self or name; because the self is not established as a substance, the substance that serves as the basis is also not established. Because there is no it, the name that is posited upon it is also merely a verbal expression. Therefore, the so-called "self" is merely an appearance and a designation that depends on the body and mind, but it is not established in reality. Therefore, when one is certain that it is emptiness (སྟོང,śūnyatā,emptiness,空) of no place (ཡུལ,viṣaya, object,境), it is said that the grasping at the self of the person (གང༷་ཟག་གི་བདག༷་འཛིན,Pudgala-ātma-graha,Grasping at the self of the person,补特伽罗我执) is completely transformed into no-self (བདག་མེ,anātman,no-self,无我). The second part has four aspects: searching for the basis upon which the name is posited, destroying the clinging to permanence of things, attacking the weaknesses of benefit and harm, and destroying the false caves of hope and fear. The first aspect: From "I and" to "after certainty," it explains: The self (བདག,Ātman,Self,自我) that is the subject, and the way in which its object appears, such as my five aggregates and five objects, etc., by searching with wisdom for the basis upon which the name is posited, it is discovered that all names are merely posited in mutual dependence, and there is no basis that is established by its own nature, therefore one is certain that it is emptiness of no place (ཡུལ,viṣaya, object,境). The second aspect: From "all things" to "make a decision," it explains: After being certain in this way, although in appearance all things seem to be existent, real, and permanent, if one analyzes,
