Caused by obstacles on the path, arriving on the basis of duality, therefore it is the basis of arrival. Some teachers consider the first to be one taste, and the second to be free from elaboration. Some consider it unpredicted, but in any case, it is arriving on the nature of the mind. The second is, as stated from "all arise from bliss and emptiness," all the stages of such a path are bound by the subtle and coarse grasping of mindfulness. Bliss (བདེ༷་བ་) is like the warmth of fire, clear appearance is like dawn, emptiness or non-conceptuality is like an ocean without waves, etc., various uncertain things may occur. However, without trusting and relying on false experiences, if one does not understand and clings to them as ultimate qualities, and becomes an object of attachment (ཞེན་པ་) and clinging (ཆགས་པ་), then one cannot transcend the cause of the three realms, and even if one meditates for a long time, one cannot be liberated from samsara. Furthermore, external disturbances are the magic tricks of gods and demons, internal disturbances are physical illnesses, secret disturbances are mental joys and sorrows, etc. On the three doors of body (ལུས༷་), speech (ངག་), and mind (ཡི༷ད་), various experiences of sickness (ན༷་ཚ༵་) and discomfort (མི༷་བདེ༷་བ་), before they are fully matured, the ways in which they occur sequentially must also be well understood from the guru's mouth. Thirdly, identify the nature of what is to be abandoned, and show the true antidote as the supreme of the path. The first is, from hoping for goodness to "obstacle." That is, for all appearances that seem good (བཟ༷ང་པོ་) such as gain, respect, and fame, due to hope (རེ་རློམ༷ས་), strong attachment (ཞེ༷ན་) arises, thus generating craving and clinging. Being controlled by it and spending one's life, or for all appearances that seem hateful such as enemies, evil deeds, and abusive curses, due to suspicion, sorrow and suffering arise. In short, regarding gods and harmers, happiness and suffering, everything as one's own continuum, then one will fall into the dangerous situation of the three obstacles of straying, loss, and error, and will not be able to transcend to the supreme city of great liberation. If the key point here is revealed and explained, then no matter how it appears as good or bad, happiness or suffering, merely appearing does not become a bondage, therefore there is no need to negate it. As Arya Deva said, "This is not to negate mere appearance, but to reverse the thought of truth." Therefore, the root of what is to be negated is actually the mind that holds that there is true establishment on the appearance, and beyond that.

Solely relying on focused wisdom for contemplation, ༄༅། །If one strives too hard in practice, it may weaken the functions of the root elements, such as some aspects of the water and earth elements, thereby diminishing the mind's ability to discriminate, making memory dull and unstable, and causing the human body to become foolish and dull, even transforming into the mind of an animal. Considering this, Jamyang Sakya Pandita said: Mere meditation without learning, Even if effort is made, is the method of practice for animals. Furthermore, some aspects of the fire and wind elements may lead to mental confusion, epilepsy, and other such conditions, causing one to stray onto wrong paths, becoming mentally confused, and wandering aimlessly. Therefore, it is essential to rely on a virtuous and qualified spiritual teacher who can impart the key points of this path as they are, cutting through exaggerations and doubts. Even if one does not have such fortune, it is still absolutely necessary to properly observe, understand, and familiarize oneself with the instructions of the lineage holders who have attained accomplishment through this path, without being negligent. Third, the concluding teaching is: In short, from "In summary, from these to the fortunate ones," what is taught is: In short, from the previously mentioned ground to the clear and knowing wisdom and the alaya-consciousness, these are the ways in which the mind operates. Because of the lack of insight into the nature of reality, one cannot be liberated from the suffering of samsara, nor can one approach the path of omniscience that is free from the two extremes, not even by a hair's breadth. Therefore, if one practices for a long time with strong diligence, it will only increase samsara. Know that in this way, one will surely waste this life. This is a compassionate instruction to the fortunate ones who are able to practice this path. However, for those who cannot recognize awareness in themselves, or even if they recognize it, they fall into boundless errors due to distraction and laziness, first, like taming an unruly wild horse, the conceptual thoughts of the mind should be bound with the stake of practice and attachment, and then gradually and continuously meditate, so that in the end all coarse and subtle conceptual thoughts are purified, and from the appearances, the un fabricated, natural wisdom arises.
