Youth, regarding all phenomena encompassed by samsara and nirvana as the spontaneous play of accomplishment, without breaking the outer boundary, with great inner clarity, this is given the name "vase." For example, all the stars emerge from the depths of the ocean, without breaking the outer boundary; all the vessel and essence worlds emerge from the depths of the sky, without breaking the outer boundary, this is like a vase. Accumulating and piling up all the qualities of body, wisdom, path, and fruit, this is called "body." In general, Dzogchen is the vast expanse in which samsara, nirvana, and the three paths are complete. Just as it is, it is determined through the two selflessnesses. Although the way of determining is similar in any vehicle, some, after determining, think that apart from being non-existent from their own side, the others each exist in their own continuum. And some think of it as merely dependent origination, and some hold onto the mind of emptiness, and say that body and wisdom can enter from elsewhere, and so on. However, here, according to our own system, from the very beginning, all the phenomena of body, wisdom, path, and fruit are naturally complete in the fundamental nature, and knowing this as it is, is the certainty of the view and tenets of Dzogchen. Before that, determining the naturally arisen wisdom of the ground has already explained the meaning of the view of great liberation. Second, practicing the path, putting it into practice. Again, the king of vidyadharas, Shri Singha, and so on, have been completely accomplished. Regarding the way of practicing the path, putting it into practice, there are also: briefly explaining the essential instructions on the method of abiding, the four ways of liberation through tones, and explaining in detail the distinctions of the four ways of abiding. The first is: the original ground, the Sugata-garbha, like sesame seeds pervaded by oil, Although it is constantly pervasive in the continuum of all sentient beings, abiding in the way of spontaneous great accomplishment, however, due to the external object taken as the cause, and the internal mind that grasps as the condition, delusion arises under the power of ignorance. It is like this: first, through the view, determine that all phenomena encompassed by samsara and nirvana are not established by their own nature. Self-knowing, without basis or root, As the great sovereign essence that pervades samsara and nirvana, wisdom, in the play of self-arisen wisdom, cut through in one stroke. Do not chase after previous thoughts, do not welcome future thoughts, Do not promote present thoughts.

You must make a firm decision that there is no other practice than to not let it go, but to rest equally in the great state of self-existing luminosity. Regarding this, even if the actual Buddha, the Bhagavan, were to come in person, you must be without doubt or hesitation. If you do not understand it in this way, even if you say "no-self" with your mouth, you will not be able to bear the circumstances in reality, and you will not be able to penetrate to the core. That is the reason. Therefore, it is very important to study widely, and especially to know the ways in which the eight consciousnesses arise and cease, just as they are. It is said that if you know in this way, you will transcend the basis of uninstructed meditation and go on the path. It is because you have not realized the state of the Sugata-garbha that you are mistaken. Manifesting that in the state of great wisdom that pervades everything, and liberating it upon yourself, you must be certain that all of samsara and nirvana are nothing other than your own appearances. Generally, the mind of sentient beings, that expanse of emptiness and clarity, is such that any thought can arise in it. Therefore, having illuminated it like a butter lamp, the arising of various thoughts is like sparks arising from a fire, arising from the realm of the afflicted mind. From the very moment of arising, for example, when a wave arises from water, although the water and the wave appear to be two different things, their essence is the same, and there is no good or bad. Likewise, the basis of arising is the realm of dharmata, and the one that arises—the thought—both are not established as different, but have become of equal taste, so you must know the state of that. If it is not like that, but you nurture thoughts, or block them as if dealing with an enemy, then, just as blocking the mouth of a great river causes the sky to be destroyed by water, karmic winds will enter the life force and inevitably lead to death. If you see your own power as a fault and block it, etc., that is because it is the wisdom that sees how the unobstructed sound of the dharmakaya is as vast as it is. If you abandon that, then it is certain that a Buddha who is separated from the wisdom of knowledge and vision will not arise. Generally, even in a single day and night, twenty-one thousand six hundred thoughts arise. Even if you block it, it will naturally vanish; even if you leave it, it will naturally vanish. Because there is nothing other than the wisdom of the subsequent awareness dharmakaya. The previous lamas said that the more thoughts there are, the more dharmakayas there are. For example, the more firewood there is,
