The manifestation of the earth as adorned and the demonstration of the distinct forms of the teacher and retinue are skillful means. To explain this in a little more detail, from the power of ignorance arise the assemblies of nāga spirits and earth lords; from the power of anger arise the assemblies of male spirits and kings; from the power of desire arise the assemblies of female spirits and demonesses; and from the power of the eighty-four thousand afflictions arise the eighteen great chief spirits, the fifteen great child spirits, the five hundred ogresses and their children, and so on. These are manifestations of the old demons who are inherently present and the minor demons who arrive suddenly. Similarly, with regard to the Dharma protectors, the great lord of all, the basis of ignorance; the aspect of the ground consciousness that is empty and clear is the assembly of the mother tantras; the eight assemblies and eight classes; the Rahu of afflicted mind; the yakshas who harm the mind; and so on. To say that these manifest as the play of the chief and retinue is merely a skillful means, and they do not exist independently. Therefore, the accomplishment of practice depends on the basis of practice being within oneself, and its key lies there. Bodhisattvas also do not exist in an external realm; it is merely a matter of giving them names, and there is no contradiction. For example, the name Mañjuśrī is given because the ground, the sugata-garbha, is free from all the coarse and rough aspects of the afflictions, and is therefore gentle (འཇམ།); because it possesses the glory of spontaneously accomplished form and wisdom, it is glorious (དཔལ།); and because it possesses the sixty branches of melodious speech, it is called voice (དབྱངས།). Similarly, Avalokiteśvara is called eye (སྤྱན།) because he has directly realized the wisdom of omniscience; and he is called sees (གཟིགས།) because his great all-seeing wisdom is impartial and without bias, and he knows all dharmas distinctly and without confusion, without attachment or obstruction. Similarly, Mahāsthāmaprāpta is so called because he has the power to liberate all impure appearances and minds into the realm of purity. These are ultimate truths. To say that they exist elsewhere is a conventional skillful means. In short, the self-arisen great wisdom of the buddhas who have realized the primordial dharmakāya is divided into segments and transformed into skillful means. Ultimately, by knowing the nature and reality of the ground itself, one finally makes a vow in one's own mind and does not stray from the state of manifestation. This is the profound practice of the ultimate meaning.

All practices and mandalas are gathered and perfected here. Now, as a substitute for those, first, to contemplate the basis, the support—the celestial palace of the realm, and the supported deities, first, one must разрушать the impure karmic aeon into the expanse, thereby arranging the appearance of the pure wisdom deities. For example, just as the appearance of a dream and the appearance of daytime do not occur at the same time, and just as the appearance of the human realm and the realm of hell cannot possibly arise at the same time, the impure cycle of existence and the pure lands of the wisdom deities cannot possibly be established at the same time. Therefore, first, contemplate that all external appearances, the container world, the internal moving sentient beings, and the intermediate objects of the five desires, etc., are разрушать into the expanse like the whirling of a magical illusion, разрушать into the nature of emptiness, the nature of reality. In the expanse of emptiness, manifesting the reality of suchness, this is called the samadhi of suchness. However, those who do not know the nature, manner, and reality of emptiness only elaborate on the non-empty as the manner of emptiness, but in reality, the samadhi of suchness will not be manifested. The reality of the samadhi of suchness is only the object of experience for the yogi who has realized the view of emptiness. Again, when the great pervasive wisdom, the reality of the ground, is manifested, all phenomena encompassed by samsara and nirvana, like stars in the ocean, manifest as a great play, thereby manifesting everything, this is called the samadhi of all-appearing. This is only the object of experience for the yogi who has recognized the awareness of the ground of the dharmakaya, and not for others. Others who focus their minds on sentient beings or contemplate non-conceptual compassion become conceptual contemplations, and therefore cannot manifest all-appearing, so know that this is only established as a substitute for it. The so-called causal samadhi is like this: in that very instant, there is no rainbow in the sky, but a rainbow immediately appears, and there are no stars in the water, but stars immediately appear. From the expanse of the pervasive, non-elaborate nature of reality, awareness manifests as the causal seed syllable Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: 吽), dark blue, blazing with light and rays, as the nature of the support and the supported.
