There is only view. In the present time, one either falls into the extreme of permanence or into the extreme of annihilation. There is nothing that does not go beyond the two extremes of permanence and annihilation. Therefore, this is the degenerate time of views. In the previous good kalpa, there was not even the name of war, disease, famine, etc. But in the present time, war, disease, famine, etc. are frequent, so this is the degenerate time of the era. In the previous good kalpa, life spans were all immeasurable or eighty thousand years. But in the present time, life spans are close to twenty or thirty years, so this is the degenerate time of life. In the previous good kalpa, when sentient beings saw each other, they looked with smiling eyes, greeted with pleasant words, and cared for each other with beneficial minds. But in the present time, when sentient beings see each other, it is as if they see an enemy. They disturb their minds with evil words and engage in beating, robbing, and killing. Therefore, this is the degenerate time of sentient beings. In this age of the flourishing of the five degenerations, sentient beings are so stubborn and evil. By the power of this great force, this life is nothing more than a dream. Yet they cling to it, dreaming of living here forever, preparing to conquer enemies, protect relatives, build castles, cultivate fields, and accumulate wealth. They only care about farming and accumulation, and they abandon the benefits of the next life. Therefore, liberation and the state of omniscience, they cannot even see the stars in the daytime. These are people who are not qualified to walk the path. The second is the person who does not seek the path: even if they accumulate death, even if they are happy to practice Dharma by remembering death, they only spend their lives prostrating and circumambulating with their bodies, reciting and repeating with their mouths, and practicing virtuous deeds with good thoughts in their minds, seeking only the state of gods and humans in the heavens, and not one of them seeks the state of omniscient Buddha. These are people who do not seek the path. The third is the person who seeks the path but cannot find it:

And some, etc. No. And some, without knowing even a little about the view of emptiness, while holding the outer container and contents as unpredicted and the inner self as unpredicted, decide that their own mind is empty and make conceptualization the path. Or, a foolish teacher introduces some unmade awareness, and then, in that state, they let go of all the activities of body, speech, and mind, and when they stay in a state of inactivity, if any of the three experiences arise—the pleasure experience that throws one into the desire realm, the clear experience that throws one into the form realm, and the non-conceptual experience that throws one into the formless realm—they hold that as the ultimate end of meditation and cling to it. Then, the result is only to be thrown into the gods of the desire and form realms, and they are not even a hair's breadth close to the path of omniscience. Those are people who seek the path but cannot find it. The fourth is a person who has the right and fortune for the path: Therefore, etc. Please treasure! For that reason, from countless eons ago, vast accumulations have been gathered, and good aspirations have connected them. If there is a person who has made a connection with the ultimate Dharma, then I, Kunsang Dudjom Dorje, have taught for his enjoyment and power. Those who have no connection with him, who have no karma or fortune to master the Dharma of Dzogchen, impute faults to this teaching that has no faults, and slander the teaching that has virtues as having no virtues. These people will flee from the Dharma of clear light Dzogchen to desolate monasteries. If it is not so, but those individuals who share the same fortune as him, first look at this instruction, examine and analyze it in the middle, and finally, through familiarity, recognize that all phenomena included in appearance, existence, samsara, and nirvana are the nature of one great emptiness, the play of one great emptiness, the environment of one great emptiness, and thus naturally realize it, so it is said. The above is the meaning of the initial auspicious beginning. Second, to truly explain the meaning of the text, here, nature, etc. is supreme. Here, the Dharma of natural Dzogchen has three divisions: the Mind Division, the Space Division, and the Secret Instruction Division. Among them, first, the view of the Mind Division
