Who are the parents? If born from parents, then it has the end of birth. If one thinks it resides here, then it has the end of permanence. The end of permanence is also something with refutation. Thus, being bound by the three faults of arising, ceasing, and abiding, one is undoubtedly a sentient being. Similarly, the so-called "pure land" refers to a vast place. If based on the vast container-world and the numerous sentient beings, then it is called the self-grasping of the object-dharma. The Buddha's body of sentient beings is the self of a person, and if one cannot transcend both self-graspings, one will undoubtedly become a sentient being. The so-called "Buddha has eyes," etc. If one thinks that such a self-nature Buddha has eyes, then there must also be eye-consciousness. Eye, eye, the root of the eye. If one possesses eye-consciousness, there is no way that it will not appear as form. Once it appears as form, then that is the object taken by the eye. Until the object is established, there is no way that a subtle thought of taking the form will not arise. That is the grasping of the eye, which is mind. Wherever there is mind, it is called a sentient being. If one thinks that such a self-nature Buddha has ears, then there must also be ear-consciousness. Ear, the consciousness of the ear. If one possesses ear-consciousness, there is no way that it will not appear as sound. Once it appears as sound, then that is the object taken by the ear. Until the object is established, there is no way that a subtle thought of taking the sound will not arise. That is the grasping of the ear, which is mind. Wherever there is mind, it is called a sentient being. If one thinks that such a self-nature Buddha has a nose, then there must also be nose-consciousness. Nose, the consciousness of the nose. If one possesses nose-consciousness, there is no way that it will not appear as smell. Once it appears as smell, then that is the object taken by the nose. Until the object is established, there is no way that a subtle thought of taking the smell will not arise. That is the grasping of the nose, which is mind. Wherever there is mind, it is called a sentient being. If one thinks that such a self-nature Buddha has a tongue, then there must also be tongue-consciousness.
