Therefore, strive for virtuous deeds during the intermediate period. If there is no leisure, put aside the nine activities and strive to meditate day and night continuously. Those who cannot meditate during the day should strive continuously during the day. At the beginning and end of each session at night, there are three special focuses, and in between, the five winds naturally purify, thereby generating non-conceptual limbs, contemplate the stacked five-colored A-character (Tibetan: ཨ་ཡིག་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A-character). Also, understand and strive to practice the methods of training in death. Secondly, regarding the meaning of the text, there are five points: the extraordinary superiority of Tögal over Trekchö; the way the four visions arise sequentially; the way the superior faculties achieve liberation in this life; the differences in the increase of realization; and the way the intermediate and inferior faculties achieve liberation in the bardo of dharmata and existence. The first point is, from the first awareness, it is said, "It is the instruction of transference." That is to say, as mentioned before, in general, all the various phenomena that appear to all beings during the three periods of day, night, and bardo are the first awareness in the continuum of each sentient being, manifesting as objects, that is, the environment and beings and desirable qualities, those impure and degenerate appearances. At this time, through the skillful means of the path, it is forcibly transferred into the realm of clear light, therefore it is superior. That is to say, since it transforms all the appearances and minds of samsara into the realm of dharmata, it is superior to the transference of ordinary people who contemplate the three concepts with shape and color and project them upwards. Superior. Because it obtains stability in the great manifestation of the play of body and wisdom, and is the instruction that liberates the three kayas of meaning in oneself, it is superior to contemplating self-generated deities in human form through artificial creation and effort like the generation stage. Because the clear light of dharmata appears manifestly in the door of the senses, it is superior to dark retreat like Trekchö. The seven superiorities spoken by the Omniscient Lama need to be understood from the guidance text "Yeshe Lama." Secondly, there are four ways in which the four visions arise sequentially. First, the vision of the manifestation of dharmata is, from the first awareness, it is said, "Manifests as a spectacle." The awareness (Tibetan: ཤེས༷་པ༷་དང༷་པོ༷་,) appearing (Tibetan: འོད་གས༷ལ་,) as light (Tibetan: སྣང༷་བ༷་,) is not an ordinary sense consciousness, but the wisdom of

Because it appears as a spectacle to the eye, it is the manifestation of the direct perception of reality. Its outer signs are that the appearance of the sphere of reality is naturally formed and stable, like a curtain being spread out, and the bindu appears to be about the size of a thumb instead of just the size of a fish's eye. The inner sign is that the power of the vase empowerment affects the grossness of the body, causing the body to not want to move and remain still, the speech to not want to speak and remain silent, and the mind to be able to stay focused on whatever it is directed towards. At this time, even if there are obstacles, the emanation of the natural state is breathed out. This is not because only the first sign of the outer sphere of reality is seen, but because inwardly, the key to seeing the truth free from the dust of wisdom is seen. As it says in the Longsal: "The direct perception of awareness, is by the key of seeing the truth, it is not the reversal of the three realms." Secondly, the appearance of increasing experience is, "The appearance increases, great light spreads." That is to say, this is not produced by the aggregation of wind and mind, like the ten signs of eliminating experiences, but because inwardly, the essence of reality, emptiness, is seen. Therefore, its radiance, the self-luminous wisdom, does not change outwardly, but appears as the appearance of great light. Because of the power of habituation, it spreads and increases from above, so it is the increase of experience. The outer signs of this are that the light appearance greatly expands, and the sphere of reality and awareness separate from the boundary. Five-colored lights appear like spokes, extending upwards, round gatherings, like stupas, thousand-petaled lotuses, castles, arrows, spear tips, nets, half-nets, multi-eyed patterns, etc. appear indefinitely. The lamp of the empty bindu also grows from the size of a thumb to the size of an umbrella. Awareness is like a bird flying quickly, like a wild animal running on a ridge, like a Sharana walking slowly, like a bee hovering over a flower, walking slowly, which is labeled as slightly accustomed and moderately accustomed. The measure of utmost habituation is that wherever one looks, the empty realm is pervaded by the appearance of light and remains without movement. The inner sign is that the way the three doors appear is that, as a sign of the power of the secret empowerment affecting the channels and winds, first, within the inner part from the heart to the throat, various uncomfortable stinging pains such as wind and phlegm arise, etc.
