This is because sentient beings act with the remainder of their karma, and when they place their feet on the sharp razors with their edges pointing upwards, the skin and flesh are cut off, and when they lift their feet, they grow back again. After that, there is a forest of sword leaves. Those sentient beings see the shade of the trees as a pleasant place, so they go there and sit down. Many swords fall from the leaves of the trees, cutting and splitting all the limbs and branches. Then, when they fall, jackals come and pick them up and eat them. After that, there is a forest or mountain of iron silk-cotton trees. All the forests and mountains there are full of very sharp iron thorns. Jackals chase from behind, and when they reach there, the thorns that pierce downwards split the whole body. When they reach the top of the mountain, a bird called Iron-beaked Crow, with its sharp beak, pecks down on the head and shoulders from left and right, and gouges out the eyeballs. Again, when descending, all the thorns point upwards, cutting the whole body. Furthermore, men and women who previously engaged in perverse sexual conduct are born there, and those places appear to be calling from the top in a pleasant manner. When climbing upwards, the thorns point downwards, piercing the body. When they reach the top, iron women and others with bodies as rough as saws embrace and burn them. Again, when calling from the root in the previous manner, when descending, the thorns point upwards. When they reach the root, as before, it is said that they experience the suffering of being embraced. These three are similar to being cut by weapons, so they are considered as one. The fourth is the endless river. After that, having gone there, there is a place filled with boiling water, and having entered it, the body sinks and all the flesh and bones are burned. On either bank of that river, the guardians of hell, holding clubs, iron hooks, and ropes, sit holding ropes or lassos, not allowing them to come out, and grabbing them with iron hooks and ropes, they throw them face up on the burning ground and ask what they want. At that time, they know nothing and see nothing. However, when they say they are hungry and thirsty, they put burning iron balls into their mouths and boiling molten copper into their mouths.

Here it does not say two thousand yojanas, so what does directly opposite mean? Those hot hells are located deep in the deep canyons, the cold hells are located on the peaks of snow mountains and other high places, so it is said that the locations are directly opposite. The two thousand yojanas are swallowed by those snow mountains, some wise people think so. In general, the cold hells are surrounded by snow mountains on all sides, and below are all snowy fields and deep canyons of glaciers. Above, blizzards rage, it is pitch black, and the strong wind blows violently. The first of these, the Blister Hell, is: the blizzard wind blows on the body from all directions, causing blisters to form all over the body and shrink. The second, the Bursting Blister Hell, is: even colder than that, the blisters burst, and pus and blood flow from all over the body. The third, the Achuchu Hell, is: even colder than that, the suffering intensifies, and a loud cry is emitted. The fourth, the Huhu Hell, is: even colder than that, the suffering intensifies, the voice becomes hoarse, and it is emitted from deep in the throat. The fifth, the Chilling Teeth Hell, is: even colder than that, the suffering intensifies, unable to make a sound, and the teeth chatter.
