It is like this. If there is birth, there is death. If there is gathering, there is separation. If there is accumulation, there is exhaustion. Even youth is robbed by disease. The time of life is also robbed by death. If you are attached, suffering will increase. If you are disgusted, you will be liberated. As it is said in the Vinaya Pitaka: "All accumulations will eventually be exhausted, all heights will eventually fall, the end of meeting is separation, and the end of living is death." As it is said, all these are the nature of impermanence. In the Sutra of Advice to the King, it says: For example, from the four directions come great mountains, solid, stable, with essence, not destroyed, not broken, without gaps, very hard, towering and thick, four peaks touching the sky, overturning the earth, grinding all the grass, trees, branches, leaves, and all sentient beings, creatures, and beings into powder. In this situation, it is impossible to easily escape quickly, resist with strength, resist with wealth, or resist with objects, mantras, and medicines. Great King, similarly, there are four great fears that will come, and for those, it is impossible to easily escape quickly, resist with strength, resist with wealth, or resist with objects, mantras, and medicines. What are the four? They are aging, sickness, death, and decay. Great King, aging destroys prosperity, sickness destroys health, decay destroys all perfections, and death destroys life. For these, it is impossible to easily escape quickly, resist with strength, resist with wealth, or pacify with objects, mantras, and medicines. It is like iron mountains coming from the four directions, solid, stable, and with essence, without a roof, without gaps, that is, without seams, etc. Completely dense means that all parts are dark, dense, and huge. The tree "Gelpa" refers to the tree trunk. "Beings" are the types of sentient beings. Like this, the four coming from the four directions, that is, the four such as aging, will destroy prosperity, etc. Think about the meaning of these metaphors. In the Extensive Play Sutra, it also says: The three realms are impermanent like autumn clouds, the birth and death of beings are like watching a dance, the life of beings is like lightning in the sky, flowing quickly like a waterfall cascading from a cliff.

Birth and death are like dancers changing various headdresses, taking on various bodies. Or like showing various postures, changing, etc., think like that. From the collection on impermanence, it says: In the morning, many people are seen, in the afternoon some are not seen. In the afternoon, many people are seen, in the morning some are not seen. Just as those seen in the morning are not seen in the afternoon, and those seen in the afternoon are not seen in the morning the next day. Likewise, it says: Many men and women, even those who have reached adulthood, will die. Therefore, saying that this person is young, what is the use of relying on being alive? Some will die in the womb, likewise, some will die at the place of birth. Likewise, some are just crawling, likewise, some will crawl and run. Some are old and some are young, some are people who have reached adulthood. Gradually, they will completely depart, like ripe fruits falling. It is said that others are easy to understand. Gradually departing, that is, dying, for example, thinking that the ripe fruit of a tree does not stay for a long time but falls to the ground. These things mentioned above are the coarse aspects of impermanence. In the Four Hundred Verses of the Middle Way, it says: For anyone, the so-called being alive, there is nothing other than a moment of mind. Not being certain of this after birth, therefore few know themselves. That is, no matter what kind of person, the so-called being alive exists only for a moment of the mind, just a moment. For example, this mind moves from one object to another, and in an instant, different thoughts arise and cease before and after. For example, when reciting letters quickly, each letter changes in different times before and after and in the form of its own letter, so the mind focused on this is also different, so the mind is established as the nature of an instant. The so-called instant is the ultimate limit of a short time. For example, for all sentient beings, an instant refers to the length of time it takes for a powerful person to snap their fingers, which is also divided into sixty-four parts. Like this, moment by moment, consciousness arises and ceases, so it is momentary. Likewise, all conditioned phenomena are momentary. In particular, one's own life is also momentary, therefore sentient beings
