The future is unpredictable, do not strive for tomorrow, but strive for the next life. As it is said, between tomorrow and the next life, it is unknown which will come first, because it is unpredictable, so do not strive for the affairs of tomorrow, but strive for the affairs of the next life, and you should also think about yourself, there is really no certainty that you will not die today. Secondly, there are many causes of death and few causes of life, as the "Resting the Mind" says: "There are many causes of death and few shares of life." Thus, there are many causes of death and few shares or conditions of life. As the "Garland of Jewels" says: "There are many causes of death and few causes of life, and they all have times of death, so always accumulate good dharma." Thus, there are many causes of death, such as diseases, and there are also many harms from non-human demons. The causes of life are very few, only a small amount, and what was previously considered a cause of life, etc., will not turn into a cause of death. In order to seek immortality, food, medicine, housing, friends, etc., if the diet is not adjusted, the medicine is wrong, the house collapses, friends deceive, etc., may turn into a cause of death, so the cause of life that has not turned into a cause of death is really invisible. Thirdly, the body is as fragile as a water bubble. This body is extremely fragile, and there is no need for serious illness or harm. Even damage such as thorns can become a cause of death. In this regard, external causes include the ruthless destruction of earth, water, fire, wind, cliffs, etc. Although there is longevity due to karma, it may also be blocked by enemies Demons, etc., and may not be able to end their natural life. This is the harm of sentient beings. Internal causes include the harm of diseases such as wind, bile, and phlegm, so it is easy to be destroyed. As the "Letter to a Friend" says: "Life is more damaged like in the wind, it is unnecessary to say that water bubbles are unstable, between one breath and one sleep, it is rare to wake up." Thus, life is more damaged, as impermanent as a water bubble in the wind, so it is rare to wake up without dying between breathing and sleeping.

Those that exist within are also very wonderful. The Garland of Jewels says, "The Lord of Death dwells within conditions, like a lamp in a red wind." Therefore, it is said that contemplating the impermanence of death is not as powerful as contemplating the uncertainty of when death will occur. Since death is uncertain, one must quickly practice the sacred Dharma now. The Resting-Place of Mind says, "Do not be careless, thinking you have time; from today onwards, strive in the Dharma." As it is said. Third, nothing other than the Dharma is of benefit. The Wish-Fulfilling Treasury says: "When death comes, dwelling and possessions, relatives, heroism, armies, and kin, are all useless. Practice the sacred Dharma!" As it is said, all these are useless, meaning they are of no benefit in terms of help. Therefore, contemplate that at the time of death, relatives are of no benefit, food and wealth are of no benefit, and the body is of no benefit. First: The Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior says, "When seized by the messengers of the Lord of Death, what use are relatives, what use are friends? At that time, only merit is a refuge, but I have not relied on it." As it is said, at the time of death, only merit and virtue are a refuge. At the time of death, no matter how many relatives, friends, power, or strength one has, they are of no benefit. Moreover, if one dies with attachment to them, one will not escape the suffering of the lower realms. It is said that if relatives grieve excessively, suffering will arise in the bardo. Therefore, contemplate what use is attachment to relatives. Second, contemplate that possessions are of no benefit. At the time of death, even if one possesses wealth comparable to the glory of a universal monarch, one cannot take even a little bit with them. If one becomes attached and clings to them, it will become the cause of unbearable suffering. Third, the body is of no benefit. Not only that, but this body, which was born together from the mother's womb, must also be left behind, and consciousness goes to the next life like pulling a hair from butter. Therefore, it is also of no benefit. Therefore, since others are of no benefit, one must only practice the sacred Dharma. Third, regarding other classifications of impermanence, the advice to King Shapely Heart says: Alas! Conditioned things are impermanent, they are of the nature of arising and ceasing.
