Just as after seven destructions by fire, one is formed by water. Likewise, after every seven destructions by fire, there is one destruction by water. In this way, after seven destructions by water, at the end of seven destructions by fire, there is a destruction by wind. In total, there are fifty-six destructions by fire, seven destructions by water, and one destruction by wind, making a total of sixty-four destructions. The instruction manual says that there are forty-nine destructions by fire, which is because the destructions by fire after the last destruction by water are not counted. Many other statements by scholars also say the same. These rules of formation, abiding, etc., are all according to the universally known system of the Treasury (Abhidharmakośa), and the Omniscient Great Master said that it is mainly based on the commentary on the Wish-Fulfilling Supreme Tantra, the Garland of Pearls of Vimala. Therefore, even if the explanation here is different, there is no fault. For example, the statements of the Earth Division and the Treasury also have inconsistencies in these rules. If you want to know, you should look at the corrected versions of the self-commentary, the White Lotus. In this way, the destruction of the container world takes one intermediate kalpa. In total, the destruction of both the container and its contents takes twenty intermediate kalpas. After being destroyed in this way, it becomes emptiness, and the duration of abiding in the nature of the one taste of space is also twenty intermediate kalpas. The sum of the four, formation, abiding, destruction, and emptiness, is eighty intermediate kalpas, which is called a great kalpa. As the Treasury says: "Formation and destruction, and abiding after destruction are of equal duration. Eighty of these are a great kalpa." In this way, these worlds of the container are impermanent, and the sentient beings, from the first kalpa with immeasurable lifespans to the final ten years, their lifespans, enjoyments, bodies, etc., become worse and worse, contemplating the nature of impermanence. Especially for the container world, which seems solid and dense, all of it is destroyed, what need is there to say about us? One should think in this way. As the Letter to a Friend says: "The earth and Mount Meru, the ocean, the seven suns that arise, burn all embodied beings, not even ashes remain, what need to mention the extremely weak human?" The meaning is that the earth, Mount Meru, and the ocean, the embodied (sentient beings) burned by the seven suns that arise, not even ashes remain, what need is there to say about the extremely weak and easily destroyed human body? It is said in this way. Two

Furthermore, there are three aspects to the way one's own life is impermanent and death occurs: First, one will definitely die; second, it is uncertain when one will die; and third, at the time of death, nothing but the Dharma will be of any help. First, the certainty of death: From the Wish-Fulfilling Treasury: "Life is uncertain, and there is no certainty when one will die, so one should contemplate from the heart that one will definitely die." The reason for this is that the Lord of Death will definitely come, and no circumstances can prevent it; there is no addition to life, and subtraction is непрерывно occurring; even when alive, there is no time to practice the Dharma, and one will definitely die. First of all: From the Collection on Impermanence: "Whether it be Buddhas, solitary Buddhas, or even the Shravakas of the Buddhas, they abandon this body. What need is there to mention ordinary people?" This means that no matter what kind of body one takes, one will die. From the Collection: "There is no place where death cannot reach. It is not in the sky, not in the depths of the ocean, not even if one enters the midst of mountains." This means that no matter where one stays, death will come. From the same text: "All beings that have come and will come will abandon this body and go. The wise should realize that all of this will perish, and abide in the Dharma, and diligently practice." This means that all beings that have come and will come will abandon this body and go to the next world, and the wise should realize that all of this will perish and is impermanent, and abide in the sacred Dharma, and diligently practice the Dharma. As it is said: At any time in the past and future, there is no difference in how sentient beings are destroyed by death, so one will definitely die. The Buddhas of the past, who attained complete and perfect enlightenment and gained mastery over birth and death, also passed into Nirvana to encourage beings who cling to permanence. Similarly, countless deeds of Indian and Tibetan Panditas, kings, ministers, Bodhisattvas, high and low, are recorded in the histories of Dharma and history, and in the absence of investigation, it seems that this is the case, but upon careful examination, they have all passed away and are no longer anywhere. One's own direct experiences, such as Khenpos, Acharyas, parents, siblings, friends, relatives, enemies, and neutral beings, all have the nature of going to the next world.
