To be born as an animal, as well as being foolish and mute, no matter where one is born in the long-life gods, these are the eight faults of not having leisure. Having separated from these and obtained leisure, strive to reverse birth. Thus it is said, and furthermore, it is said that hell, hungry ghosts, animals, and long-life gods and barbarians, wrong views and emptiness of the Buddha, and muteness, these are the eight places of no leisure. As it is said, being born in any of the three lower realms, namely hell, hungry ghosts, and animals, and the so-called long-life gods, some reliable treatises say that there are two kinds, unconscious and formless, the latter being more famous. It is said that it is located in a place with great fruition in the four concentrations, existing in the form of a monastery far from the village, and that except for the moment of birth and death, the continuity of mind and mental factors stops and exists for many kalpas, as stated in the sutras. The teaching manual says that the long-life gods are always intoxicated with the taste of joy and enjoyment, They do not give rise to the idea of practicing Dharma, as if they are very busy. This is said in the context of the eight leisureless states, referring to the desire gods who are constantly distracted by the affairs of desire. The desire gods also abide in long life. In the words of the assembly, it is said, where is happiness for those whose minds are distracted? Even for a moment, not controlling the undistracted mind, as it is said, the mind is always distracted, separated from the happiness of the mind abiding in peace, and one cannot accomplish the Dharma. In a border area without Dharma, being born as a barbarian, etc., and holding wrong views that do not believe in past and future lives and the law of karma and the Three Jewels, and the Buddha does not abide in the world, there are no teachings of the Victorious One, being born in a place where the Buddha does not appear, and being foolish with defects in the mind, and being mute with defects in the mouth, being free from these is having the leisure and happiness to practice Dharma. Secondly, incidentally, Omniscient Longchenpa believes that even if one is not truly born in these eight leisureless states, one needs to not be controlled by the leisurelessness that appears temporarily and intermittently. In the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Treasury, it says, the five poisons are in turmoil, ignorance is possessed by demons,

Laziness and evil deeds surge like a great ocean, disguising the protection from external forces and fear as Dharma. Eight kinds of leisurelessness caused by sudden factors are contrary to the vessel of Dharma for the path of liberation, which is a reversed practice. As it is said, the five poisons of affliction are extremely coarse, so they always cause the mind to be confused; the ignorant who are led by evil friends are ignorant and unknowing; views and behaviors are wrong, becoming reversed, controlled by demons who lead astray; having no interest in Dharma, they are lazy; even if they are diligent, they cannot generate merits, tormented by sins and diseases, etc., which is the surge of the ocean of evil deeds; without autonomy, servants who are employed by others, etc.; only for the sake of food and clothing in this life, or fearing the harm of ghosts and spirits, although entering the Dharma gate, they practice non-Dharma due to past evil habits; disguising non-Dharma as Dharma, seeking offerings and reverence, etc., these eight are obstacles to Dharma practice, which are interrupted by sudden occurrences, Therefore, it is called leisurelessness caused by sudden factors. Although obtaining a human body, it cannot become a vessel of Dharma for the path of liberation, which is a reversed practice of wasting life. Also, it is said in that: bonds are firm, behavior is extremely bad, not fearing samsara, having no faith, not doing good deeds, committing sins, not thinking of Dharma, precepts and vows are broken, which is called. Eight kinds of leisurelessness caused by discriminating minds, far away from Dharma, the lamp of the path of liberation is extinguished. Thus, being tightly bound by the bonds of attachment to the enjoyments, children, wealth, etc. of this life; unable to achieve anything in Dharma due to bad character; not fearing the faults of samsara and the sufferings of this life, having no renunciation; hearing the merits of the Three Jewels and the virtuous spiritual friends, having no faith at all; the three doors of body, speech, and mind only perform non-virtuous deeds; having no thought of the merits of the virtuous Dharma, like putting grass in front of a dog; the Pratimoksha and Bodhisattva vows are broken; after entering the gate of secret mantra, contradicting the guru and Dharma friends, etc., the vows are broken. These eight are leisurelessness caused by discriminating minds, that is, completely separated from the excellent Dharma.
