And there are many good things. I also Thinking that I am a good person in both secular and Dharma ways, if body, speech, and mind go happily, it is provocation. If one clings to and is attached to that thing again and again, then one is controlled. Not only that, but also other examples show that the causes of temptation are uncertain: some are tempted by wealth, some are tempted by food, some are tempted by clothes, some are tempted by business profits and thieves, some are tempted by lust for women, some are tempted by lies and deceptions, some are tempted by parents and relatives, some are tempted by temple property, some are tempted by the mind of subduing enemies and protecting relatives. All these temptations are definitely the tricks of the demon of the son of delight This temptation occurs to those who are single-mindedly devoted to the Dharma and do not like sinful deeds, and who have great renunciation and sorrow for samsara. The sign of being tempted and controlled by it is that the mind cannot turn away from the object of attachment even for a moment, and the mind also changes from before, losing the thought of taking and abandoning cause and effect, and becoming hard-hearted. Renunciation and sorrow vanish like mist, and one no longer reflects on one's own actions. Even discernment is not done. Even if it is done, one knowingly praises shameless behavior like dogs and pigs. Thus, when the temptation of the demon occurs, one is not tempted by merely a slight appearance, but when appearances arise, conceptual thoughts arise. From the arising of conceptual thoughts to the arising of attachment is provocation; from the arising of attachment to clinging is temptation. One should know this. By learning to recognize that all compounded things are impermanent, to renounce samsara, and to recognize that all dharmas are like dreams and illusions, one can cut off temptation by practicing the asceticism of non-attachment. This is very difficult to do, so one must be careful. The so-called "demon of infatuation" refers to various thoughts that are caused or not caused by external objects, spreading like a flock of sheep, and forcibly leading people away. In short, hope and doubt, benefit and harm, equanimity, etc., suddenly arise and provoke the mind, which is provocation; clinging and attachment is temptation. Merely arising is provocation, and if one can let it have no basis after arising, one can cut off temptation. Provocation may also occur in real appearances, experiential appearances, and dream appearances, which is uncertain. Real
