Sudden swelling and severe injuries, trembling of the body and throbbing of the pulse, etc. Verbal disturbance is the emission of unpleasant sounds, interruption of speech, breathing that is sometimes long and sometimes short, and uncertain situations such as interrupted breathing. Mental disturbance is anxiety in the heart, loss of consciousness and falling into a coma, loss of the object of meditation, restlessness, wanting to run away, involuntarily generating various hopes and fears, and being afraid and fearful, etc. In short, all joys and sorrows, hopes and fears, quarrels and conflicts that are not in accordance with the nature of mind are disturbances. Whichever of these manifests simultaneously in the three doors of body, speech, and mind is a great disturbance. If two manifest, it is medium; if one occurs, it is small, it should be understood. Secondly, supplementing the classification of disturbances, etc., from other sources. In the Compendium it says: "At that time the demons will feel a sting, and become miserable. Sadness, dejection, suffering, discomfort, and weakness. How can this Bodhisattva's mind be shaken? To show fear, burning the directions, and sending shooting stars. Whenever those wise ones have excellent thoughts, day and night observing the highest meaning of the Perfection of Wisdom. At that time, body and mind fly in the sky like Dakinis. How can the black retinues find an opportunity?" This clearly shows the disturbances, etc. That is, when striving to practice the Perfection of Wisdom, the demons will feel a sting, thinking that it is difficult to overcome them with my power, therefore they become dejected with sadness. The body feels pain, and the heart feels discomfort and weakness, thinking, what method can be used to shake or make this Bodhisattva's mind waver? In order to generate doubt, burning the directions, sending shooting stars, etc., showing various magical powers, this is magical power or disturbance. Thus, whenever those wise ones have great compassion and the mind of Bodhi, etc. Having pure thoughts, and day and night observing the highest meaning of emptiness of the Perfection of Wisdom, this is the yoga of Chöd, as previously stated in the general meaning, it should be known. At that time, that Bodhisattva's body and mind are like a bird flying in the sky, it is magical power.

The power of realization that arises from these, freeing oneself from the prison of diseases, spirits, cherished attachments, and other conceptual thoughts in the body, is the measure of severance. The cohorts of the black demons, along with their armies and relatives, cannot find an opportunity, and those illusions subside, which is the measure of subjugation. Furthermore, all the chapters on demons that arise from the three versions of the Mother Sutra, the Extensive, Medium, and Concise, originate from this. The root text of Chö states: By meditating on non-dual other shore, worldly gods and demons cannot bear it, various illusions manifest, directly perceived radiance, dreams, etc., this is the arising measure. In Chö, the severance measure is without fear, this is the severance measure. The subjugation measure is that illusions naturally subside, this is the manner of subjugation. In the Profound Meaning Heart Essence, it says: When one evenly abides in the meaning of the nature of reality, at that time, demons show various illusions. Also, the Incomparable Gyal Thangpa Chenpo said: When one's own continuum is well endowed with Dharma, and virtuous practice becomes essential, then the three arisings, outer, inner, and secret, all occur. Outer arising is in the direct perception of the senses, ghosts and demons, various illusions appear. Inner arising is on the elements of the body, elemental conflicts, various diseases appear. Secret arising is on the awareness of mind itself, pulse knots, heart winds, fear and terror arise. As it is said. This has three: extensive explanation, gathering the essential points, and combining with the biographies of past saints. First, Machig (Ma gcig) said: Children, listen, arising and illusion are not one, but two; subjugation and severance are also not one, but two. First is arising, then illusion, then subjugation, then the signs of severance appear, therefore the difference in sequence should not be reversed, it must be in a definite order. That is to say, the yogi himself abandoning the aggregates as food, and relying on dangerous places, both are included, therefore in practice, after understanding the aspects of the two truths, conventional and ultimate, and the key instructions on the aspect of the union of the two, in a dangerous place, choose a comfortable and pleasant place, or the eye of the dangerous place as described in the land explanations, wherever you stay, enter through any of the objects of focus such as pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, subduing, and extremely subduing, always thinking single-mindedly of the benefit of others.
