The meaning is: non-existence, pervasiveness, spontaneity, and oneness. As the Ratna-samucchaya-sutra states: "The vow is great in spontaneity, non-existence, and oneness are pervasive." As it is said, the term "vow" originates from the Sanskrit word Samaya, meaning that which cannot be transgressed. Here, it also refers to the view and practice of the Great Perfection that cannot be transgressed, hence it is said as such. The name of a philosophical system is also established through reasoning and scriptures, and it is a defining term that cannot transgress its meaning. Therefore, this is a special characteristic of the Great Perfection philosophical system. No matter how these orders are arranged, there will be no conflict, only slight differences. Here, according to the wishes of the great treasure revealer Rinpoche himself, it is recorded according to the order of the instruction manual. It is necessary to know that all phenomena are without inherent existence, therefore it is "non-existence." Moreover, one must truly know that it has not gone beyond the nature of the sole essence of the ground, therefore it is "oneness." Moreover, it is not just understanding one aspect, but understanding the principle of the nature of all phenomena being equal and expanding, therefore "pervasive" or "pervasiveness" is an ancient word for equality. Thus, it is established that phenomena are without inherent existence, and the essence of its meaning is oneness, the nature of the situation is pervasiveness, mainly showing the way of abiding in emptiness and original purity from the perspective of these three. Spontaneity is not empty and non-existent, but the nature of samsara and nirvana being spontaneously accomplished, is the way of manifesting spontaneity from the perspective of appearance. Among them, the first is the way of "non-existence." The Essence of Reality Precious Treasury states: "The nature of non-existence is emptiness of essence, equal to the vast expanse of space-like Bodhicitta, howsoever it appears in the great realm, its nature is non-existent." Thus, all appearances that are equal to space are the basis of the Bodhicitta however it appears in the great realm, it is necessary to ascertain its way of being without inherent existence in four ways: searching for the basis of the imputation of names, destroying the clinging to permanence of objects, collapsing the false cave of hope and fear, and attacking the weaknesses of benefit and harm. The first is divided into two: connection and the actual situation. The first is the connection. Starting from "Then, reality," etc., "remove impurities." Thus, by examining and analyzing the reality of all phenomena, that is, how they originally exist, it is necessary to determine that their emptiness is without inherent existence.

Therefore, one should dispel doubts, which are the flaws of view and meditation. The second part has two points: searching for the basis of designation for the name of a person, thereby establishing selflessness; and searching for the basis of designation for the names of other things, thereby establishing emptiness of inherent existence. The first point is: starting from hair and body hair, etc., "Does it exist?" it is said. What is called "I" or "self," starting from hair and body hair, up to the heart and lungs, etc., internal organs, and between feces and urine, examine carefully. Similarly, for the parts of the limbs, such as the head, lumps, joints, etc., also examine and search for how the basis of designation for each name is, thereby knowing whether it is truly established from the nature of emptiness that is nowhere to be found. The second point is searching for the basis of designation for the names of other things: similarly, starting from containers and contents, etc., "Do you think it's true?" it is said. Similarly, for the stable containers and the moving sentient beings, the five objects of desire that appear, etc., if one searches well for the basis of designation for each name from its own side, it will not be established. If one finds an unchanging, indestructible, and permanent nature, established as a true reality, then what you think is established as true is emptiness of inherent existence, that is, not established. Second, breaking down the clinging to things as permanent, has five points: showing in a reversed way how one clings to things as truly real, showing the empty nature of mere appearance with false examples, examining dreams and the way of death and rebirth in order to generate certainty about it, and summarizing the key points by showing that the three times are empty of inherent existence. The first point is: you start from your own homeland, etc., "Is that also what you think?" it is said. If any dharma is truly established, it must be independent of causes and conditions, able to be self-sufficient, and not different from before. Now, if the elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, etc., which you cling to as truly existing in your own homeland, and the form, etc., produced by the causes and conditions of these elements, do not change and possess the characteristics of the seven qualities of the solid vajra, then that is also true as you wish. The second point is: starting from breaking and destroying, etc., "Go and see!" it is said. However, if one breaks down, destroys, and demolishes the objects with form, will their essence not change? It will definitely change. Moreover, the coarse object becomes dust, and the dust becomes indivisible particles.
