Having mastered the activities of recitation, accomplishment, and so forth, surpassing students in qualities. With great love, delighting in benefiting others, and through tireless effort, skilled in guiding disciples onto the path with skillful means. Through that power, maturing the minds of disciples through empowerments and the like, and being able to establish them in the state of liberation by engaging them in the yoga of generation and completion stages, this is the quality of guiding others. Indispensable for the benefit of both oneself and others, the clouds of blessings of the lineage have not dissipated. One should rely on a lama who possesses such qualities of wisdom and accomplishment.
