Knowing respect is key; these are the common wealth of all practitioners. Now, wholeheartedly embrace the definitive meaning of the great secret. For example, if one cuts the root of a tree, a hundred thousand branches and leaves will wither at once. Similarly, by severing the root of grasping and being grasped, eighty-four thousand afflictions are liberated at once. First, the so-called 'person-self' is merely the appearance of existence where there is no self, deceiving the illusory body of wisdom and mistaking it for a real thing. Therefore, one is bound by the clinging that grasps at 'I'. Like the sun and its rays, mind and mental events, the energy of desire arises as a display. Naming terms are spoken where there is no basis for designation. Just as deer mistake mirages for water, one is bound by clinging to the real existence of things that do not exist. The vessel and essence, the five objects of desire, appearing in a dream, vanish into emptiness without a trace as soon as one awakens. Similarly, all the vessel and essence, the objects of desire, appearing in the daytime, at the time of sleep, fainting, and death-transference, just as the wheel of illusion dissolves into space, vanish into emptiness without a trace. Having thoroughly examined and determined this meaning, for example, just as all the images of stars and planets in the ocean are not other than water and merge into water, so too, the six consciousnesses and all appearances of phenomena, the vessel and essence, all have one taste in the very nature of space. Having understood this nature, realize the very nature of space. The great expanse of space, completely pure, encompassing samsara and nirvana without remainder, is the Great Perfection itself. The primordial ground is spontaneously accomplished as the essence of the Sugata. Realizing the way things are is the view; it is not bound by boxes of meditation, fabrication, or clinging. Manifesting the primordial ground is the supreme of meditation. Having completely abandoned all activities of the three doors, abiding in the state of non-doing is the king of conduct. For example, just as the sun rises in the sky, with the great confidence of being free from grasping at clarity and emptiness, self-liberation is the king of results; there is no obtaining or rejecting the result, this is the son of the king. Body and realms are the energy of self-appearing purity; they are not found in other realms, this is the son of the king. The primordial ground, the way things are, is obscured by ignorance; there is no basis for confusion other than that, this is the son of the king. Other than manifesting the primordial ground, there is no other meditation, this is the son of the king. From realizing the way things are to gaining mastery over the way things are, there is no other path to liberation, this is the son of the king.

If one can stay in a secluded place without wandering thoughts, And devote oneself wholeheartedly to the essential practice, One will soon attain perfect enlightenment, And reach the realm of the Protector, unchanging light. This is the rough talk of an old man. Words of advice. May all sentient beings, male and female, who are seen, heard, remembered, and touched, Realize the face of Samantabhadra, And may they attain the reign of the King of Dharma in the three realms! This was spoken by Glingpa Dudjom Dorje at the request of Puntsok Wangchuk, son of the noble ruler of Sakya, King Chakla. May all be auspicious! Jayantu! My Seven Instructions 3 T11618 - 117 T1618 - 118 ༄༅། །O noble one connected by karma, You have obtained the precious human body with leisure and opportunity. You have met the qualified lama who is difficult to meet, You have encountered the sacred Dharma that is difficult to encounter. You have obtained the freedom that is difficult to obtain. At this time when such interdependent conditions are complete, Do not let the remainder of your life be wasted. Please set your sights far ahead. Bind the end of your life to the Dharma and strive in practice. The appearances of this life are just temporary like a dream. The idea of staying forever is a deception by the devil. Understand this meaning and take meditation to heart. It is only the clinging to self that confuses one in the three realms of samsara. All appearances of daytime, dream, and bardo, Are appearances of self. This body changes with birth, cessation, abiding, and alteration. The appearances of stability and instability appear like illusions. Without examination or analysis, they are considered truly existent. If examined and analyzed, everything is like the nature of space. Like the moon in water, rainbows, and mirages. Everything is the nature of emptiness. In emptiness, through the interdependence of causes and conditions, All compounded phenomena appear as if they do not exist. The essence of the ground is obscured by ignorance, The dharmata and dharmic phenomena are obscured by the wheel of space. Space itself has no establishment of samsara or nirvana. Therefore, Vajradhara left this prophecy: All dharmas are the nature of space. The nature of space itself is suchness. Like this, there is also another saying: The dharmadhatu is unborn, it is the nature of space. As the great Orgyen said: The great element is space, It is the treasury of all great elements. The vessel, essence, glory, and wealth arise from this. As it is said, the vessel, essence, and desires
