Know that this is also very important. Some people, merely recognizing awareness, without even a sesame seed's worth of meditation, say that they are the exhausters of dharmata. If they say that the cause of becoming a buddha also comes from this, without even a sesame seed's worth, then that is a great mistake. One must, through the power of gradual practice, mature the qualities of realization and reach the state of liberation. First, having recognized awareness, through the power of practicing with one-pointedness, abiding in an inexpressible state in all sessions is called the awareness of recognition. In the middle, through practicing and diligently meditating, from dawn until falling asleep, not straying even for a moment from the state of awareness is called the awareness that has become space. Finally, through the power of meditating even more diligently, without interruption, awareness gaining self-confidence in itself is called the yoga of the river's flow or the awareness of gaining confidence. Again, through the power of meditating without interruption, the thought of self-grasping is transformed into awareness-emptiness, and the basis of samsara is emptied. Dualistic clinging is directly liberated, and the appearance of self and other dissolves into the expanse, hatred towards enemies, attachment towards relatives, hope for the good, suspicion towards the bad, clinging to food and wealth, attachment to desirable qualities, all of these dissolve into the expanse, and dharmata is vast and boundless like the sky, abiding in a state of non-action, this is certain liberation. Some people say, "I am the exhauster of dharmata," the thought of saying "I am the exhauster of dharmata" belongs to the category of mind and intellect, therefore exposing the flaw of not being exhausted. If the appearance of illness arises in me, then it exposes the flaw of the illness and the place of illness not being exhausted. If the appearance of hunger and thirst and heat and cold arises, then that is the flaw of self-grasping being exposed. If I say that I have no attachment or aversion or clinging, but pretend to have them, then that is a hypocrite who pretends to have what is not, which is an unexhausted flaw. It is impossible to pretend to have what is not, therefore exposing the great flaw of not being liberated into the exhaustion of dharma and transcendence of mind. Seeking and accepting wealth and food, these show the flaw of not being liberated. Even if these people claim that they are liberated, their signs and behaviors expose their flaws. Some people say, "Whether I meditate or not, I am already liberated."

Those whose actions and deeds are no different from ordinary people, without even a hair's breadth of superiority, have exposed their shortcomings, and therefore are regarded by learned and virtuous people as a matter of great shame. Experiential appearances vanish like mist, gone, without even a hair's breadth of benefit or harm. Realization is like the sky, without change, arriving at the nature of meaning. Liberation and non-liberation are both shown by actions, and the degree is grasped by dreams: the best is when dreams are purified into luminosity, merging into the surroundings; the intermediate is knowing that dreams are dreams, and being able to perform various transformations; The lowest is when bad karmic dreams are cut off, and only good dreams are dreamed. When sleep manifests as luminosity, confidence is gained in the Dharmakaya's intention. If one can freely play in the transformations of dreams, one can transform self-appearance into the enjoyment of the Sambhogakaya; if there is only good and not a single bad thing, one will be given the breath of the Nirmanakaya, this is certain. These are shown as methods for examining one's own level. The place where Dharma-nature is exhausted is where all phenomena dissolve into the great Dharma-nature beyond mind, therefore not even a moment's thought arises for samsaric affairs, and nothing is done, this is certain liberation. Until the degree of liberation is manifested, strive diligently in the practice of profound meditation. Hearing much and knowing many sutra and tantra doctrines, but if there is no liberation of one's own continuum through the experience of meditation, then there is not even a particle of benefit, because one must wander in samsara, so liberating one's own continuum is the treasury of all hearing, the treasure of wisdom and great wisdom, the supreme of all meditations, strive diligently in the experience of Om (藏文,梵文天城体:ॐ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡), grasp the key points of the practice of the Lotus-born (Padmasambhava) heart mantra! Liberate! Look! Realize! If there is no benefit to one's own continuum, then even if one pursues many words of related meanings, wasting one's life, it is difficult to find someone to explain to, and only generates strong pride and arrogance in the continuum of others, it is very difficult to be beneficial. Even if one becomes great and famous, life is only a momentary dream and like a guest at a marketplace, there is no time to enjoy greatness and highness.
