After experiencing many joys and sorrows, one ultimately realizes the nature of reality, suchness, and with individual discriminating wisdom, one ascertains that all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are without self, thereby directly realizing the nature of reality, and there is not even a particle of difference between realization and knowing. If both need to know something, it is to know the nature of reality, suchness, thereby realizing the ground-state awareness, and there is not even a hair's breadth of difference between them. In short, a decisive and profound understanding of realization is called view. Obtaining conviction is to first gain realization, then manifest awareness as non-doing and vast, and practice it continuously. Eventually, one gains stability in oneself, without distinguishing between time and occasion, just as darkness does not appear when dawn breaks. This is called gaining self-confidence in oneself. If one does not immediately focus on practice after the initial realization and does not gain conviction, then even if one realizes one's own nature, one will remain ordinary at the time of death and will have to wander in samsara. Even if one possesses as much food as Mount Meru, it is useless if one does not eat it, and one will die of starvation. Similarly, even if one possesses as many clothes as fill a city of houses, one will die of cold if one does not wear them. Therefore, know that gaining conviction is of utmost importance. If one does not understand the difference between mind and awareness, one will mistake mind for awareness, thereby becoming a factor that obstructs the path to liberation. Therefore, one must distinguish between the two. There are also confused minds of appearance clinging, minds of seeking the path, cessation, and practice, and minds of knowing as the path. Among them, the confused mind of appearance clinging refers to the minds of sentient beings who have not seen the doors of their own original path and the true path. The mind of seeking the path refers to the mind observing the mind, conceptual thought observing conceptual thought, and using intellect and consciousness to modify and accept or reject, merely causing suffering and happiness. Therefore, it is called the mind acting as the path. The mind of knowing as the path refers to the basis of the mind, that is, ordinary knowing. The manifestation of uninterrupted realization is also because the actions of not realizing the view cause external appearances to become unspecified, thereby clinging to appearances as real, and thus one cannot be liberated from the clinging to reality. Internally, one has not made oneself unspecified, so the body...
