Be sure to grasp the key point of training and taming your own mind. Like this, those who have not tamed their minds, even if they strive to practice profound instructions, once they encounter minor adversities such as difficulties and hunger and thirst, they will be swayed by them and ultimately fail to achieve accomplishment. Therefore, first train your mind with the four thoughts that turn the mind, and ultimately, at all times and in all circumstances, grasp the key point of integrating it into your being as an unforgettable habit. This is the supreme and unparalleled treasure common to all practitioners. Now, entering into the actual practice: Knowing and realizing as it is that all of samsara and nirvana are of one taste in the primordial ground of being, this is called "view vast as the sky," which is the manifestation of the self-face of the ground, the Dharmakaya, free from characteristics. Meditation is: From beginningless samsara, the primordial ground of being, Samantabhadra, pervades the being of all sentient beings like sesame oil pervading sesame seeds, but due to the object of grasping and the clinging to truth, it is obscured as if by darkness, and thus there is delusion. Now, when the self-face meets itself, there is nothing whatsoever to meditate upon, and one attains self-mastery and abides in one's own ground. Without the manipulation of mind, in the realm of pure space, self-mastery is naturally manifested, vast and boundless in the great natural state, like space merging with space. Previously, the mind had divided inside and outside and grasped them separately, but now there is no inside or outside, and one is completely certain and abides in the meaning of vast pervasiveness and unobstructedness. This is called "meditation beyond mind and without effort." In that state of meditation, the body is left uncorrected, like a corpse in a charnel ground, without movement; speech is left uncorrected, like a lute with a broken string, all speech and recitation are abandoned; the mind is left uncorrected, abiding in its natural state, without manipulation, remaining natural. These three are abandoning the activities of body, speech, and mind, and abiding in non-action, therefore it is called "equanimity." Furthermore, at any time of bodily and verbal activity, such as eating, sleeping, walking, sitting, in the marketplace, in gatherings, etc., do not lose the key point of the view, and constantly maintain the after-wisdom that is decisive in the play of the non-duality of samsara and nirvana; do not lose the key point of meditation, from the manifestation of awareness without effort.
