Appearances arise suddenly; the conceptual thought that wishes to make them disappear, and the appearance that thinks they will be destroyed, will either become abiding or vanish into nowhere. All phenomena arise dependently, and apart from mere appearances, there is absolutely nothing that is truly established from its own side. There is not a single one. For example, based on the eyes of others and a clear sky, when the substances of illusion, mantras, and illusory minds gather together, a magical emanation arises dependently, appearing even though it does not exist; with a clear sky as the cause, and warmth and moisture gathering as the condition, a mirage arises dependently, appearing even though it is not established; with the clarity of the alaya-consciousness as the cause, and clinging to self as the condition, dream appearances arise dependently, appearing even though they do not exist, yet one mistakenly clings to them as real, like daytime appearances; with a clear mirror as the cause, and the face of another gathering as the condition, an image arises dependently, appearing even though it does not exist; relying on the samadhi of meditative contemplation, with containers and moisture gathering as the condition, a city of gandharvas appears in a place dependently; with rocks and other solid and high objects and the consciousness of the ear as the cause, and the striking of a bell and other sounds as the condition, an echo arises dependently; with clear water as the cause, and the appearance of stars in the sky gathering as the condition, an image appears dependently; relying on the water itself, Starting with (Tibetan: ཨོཾ,Sanskrit Devanagari: ओम्,Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ,Literal meaning: Om), with the water becoming turbid or being stirred gathering as the condition, a water bubble arises dependently; relying on the eye, with the eye veins being squeezed gathering as the condition, blurred vision arises dependently; for those who have power over emanations, with entering the samadhi of emanation transformation as the condition, an emanation arises dependently, appearing even though it does not exist. Thus, these ten examples, because they rely on a cause, are dependent; because cause and condition are inseparable, they are related; and because they appear and arise even though they do not exist, they are arising. Similarly, the ground-essence is vast, like the all-pervading space, the groundless and rootless expanse of space, in the unobstructed play of nowhere, because the consciousness that clings to "I" as self is continuous, the ground is divided into fragments, and by cutting the self to this side, the ground-essence flows outward, and the clarity of the ground is like a mirror.

Furthermore, from that which is capable of appearing, the appearances of the three realms spread forth. An example of this is like bubbles bursting forth in an ocean that has not yet become two oceans, reaching the other shore; and like a rainbow appearing in the sky, where there is nothing but the sky itself, appearing as another sky. Because it relies on me, it is the support. Because there is no self or other, it is the connection. Because it arises even though it does not exist in the other realm, it is called arising. Thus, contemplate the nature of all the various phenomena that appear. And grasp the key to decisively determining the nature of reality as the play of empty space. Moreover, when all the appearances of the daytime, the container world, sentient beings, and the objects of the five desires enter into sleep, the alaya dissolves into the empty nature of space and pervades limitlessly within it. Again, due to the churning of the winds of karma, the consciousness of self-grasping arises, and from the appearance of self, all external and internal containers, sentient beings, and objects of desire spread forth in the basic realm as dreamlike appearances, and taking pleasure, pain, and neutrality as close, clinging to them as real, and thus becoming deluded, be sure to recognize this. Thus he spoke. Then, the Bodhisattva Kunsang Kodpai Wangpo rose from his seat, respectfully prostrated, and said to the Bhagavan: O Teacher, Bhagavan, I do not wish for all appearances to disappear; I enter my bed and cover myself warmly with clothes. Om (Tibetan, Devanagari: ओँ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om), when I fall asleep, I wish that these magnificent displays of appearances would remain behind. Thus he requested. The Bhagavan replied: O Kunsang Kodpai Wangpo, thus it is. When you enter your bed, cover yourself warmly with clothes, and fall asleep, you abandon all the container, sentient beings, and objects of desire of the daytime. The appearances of the dream realm, the vast container world. The moving sentient beings are numerous, the appearances of the five desires are beautifully arranged, where do these places of expansion, internal and external, reside? Tell me. Thus he spoke. Kunsang Kodpai Wangpo said: I believe they expand within the body. After he requested, the Bhagavan replied: O Appearance Vajra, from the inside of the head of the body, contemplate in all places. Thus, where are the places of expansion of these vast and numerous phenomena of appearance, the many mountains and valleys? Tell me. Thus he spoke. The appearances of
