It is called the all-encompassing foundation consciousness. It initially exists merely as a potential factor; in the middle, it becomes dense and stable; finally, all the characteristics of the base sink into the profound radiance, like sinking into the light of crystal. From the radiance, light emanates, and the characteristics of samsara are perfected, like the sun being obscured by clouds, yet still having the brightness of sunlight. It has three aspects: the nature of the all-encompassing foundation consciousness, the temporary manifestation, and the collection of aggregates. The nature is like unconscious emptiness, like the darkness of night enveloping the sky. The temporary manifestation is like a mirror wiped clean, capable of producing concepts, or the emergence of clarity in emptiness, like the first light of dawn. From that, only the extremely subtle consciousness of self-grasping arises. It becomes slightly dense and stable, thus establishing the "self." From the "self," external phenomena appear, like this: the external appearance is the container world, the internal movement is sentient beings, and in between, the objects of the five desires manifest. That is the afflicted mind, which becomes slightly dense, thus a vast consciousness arises and enters into the object, that is its consciousness. Based on the "self" as a home, from consciousness arise six active consciousnesses, entering into the five sense gates, grasping from gross objects, which are the objects of sense, and then entering into subtle grasping. Oṃ (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:唵): The way of acting in samsara is as follows: In the sense organ of the eye, a form appears, and through consciousness, the form is grasped completely, which is called the object of grasping. Subtle mind consciousness enters and approaches it, which is called the grasping "mind." In the sense organ of the ear, a sound appears, and through consciousness, the sound is grasped completely, which is called the object of grasping. Subtle mind consciousness enters and discriminates, approaching it, which is the grasping. In the sense organ of the nose, a smell appears, and through nose consciousness, the smell is grasped completely, which is called the object of grasping. Subtle mind consciousness distinguishes various different characteristics, which is the grasping. In the sense organ of the tongue, a taste appears, and through consciousness, the taste is grasped completely, which is called the object of grasping. Subtle mind consciousness enters and discriminates, approaching it, which is the grasping. Similarly, in the sense organ of the body, a touch appears, and through body consciousness, the touch is grasped completely, which is called the object of grasping. Subtle discrimination of consciousness arises, naming, distinguishing meaning, and things.

Attachment is the mind that grasps. The distinction between coarse object-grasping and subject-grasping is as follows: Arising from the ego-grasping of the afflicted mind is complete. The object-grasping associated with "I" is referred to as the object and the prior conceptualization; The grasping of the six consciousnesses is referred to as the mind and the subsequent conceptualization. The subtle is the object-grasping of the consciousnesses, And identifying the subtle mind-consciousness as the mind is the doctrine of this vehicle. The coarse is the prior conceptualization that grasps the object and the entirety of the object; The subtle is the subsequent conceptualization that examines the nature of the object and distinguishes it individually. Thus, following the pattern, mistaken appearances and mind arise; Reversing the pattern, when the coarse appearance transforms, it is labeled as the all-ground that gathers accumulations. Thus, the arising is also as follows: The self-appearance is grasped by the mind; The senses are made by the afflicted mind; The consciousnesses are made by the mind; The appropriation is made by the mind-consciousness, thus closely taking and abandoning all three: pleasure, pain, and neutrality, and being mistaken. O son of noble family, the all-ground is formless, The consciousnesses are the realm of form, The subtle mind-consciousness naturally arises in the desire realm. The five impure winds of samsara are also as follows: The obscuring wind obscures the eye of wisdom. Oṃ (藏文,梵文天城体:ॐ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡) obscured (བསྒྲིབས,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:,汉语字面意思:obscured)! The gathering wind gathers the stains of habitual patterns; The separating wind separates mind and appearance; The moving wind makes uncertain appearances appear in various ways; The transforming wind causes the place to transform. There are five obscurations that obscure the radiance of wisdom, namely: The ignorance of the all-ground obscures the Dharmakaya; The obscuration of the afflicted mind obscures the spontaneously accomplished radiance; The obscuration of the mind obscures wisdom; The obscuration of the consciousnesses obscures wisdom; The obscuration of dualistic grasping obscures the correct path. Due to the obscuration of these obscurations, there are five radiances that obscure wisdom, namely: The radiance of the Dharmadhatu is blue; The radiance of mirror-like wisdom is white; The radiance of equanimity wisdom is yellow; The radiance of discriminating wisdom is red; The radiance of accomplishing wisdom appears as green colors. The first power is delusion; The second power is hatred; The third power is pride; The fourth power is desire.
