Everything also cannot be established as "I" from their respective names. If the so-called "I" exists in the lower part of the body, then even if the head and other upper limbs are cut off, there will be no pain, so it is not there. If it exists in the upper part, then even if the legs and other lower parts are damaged, there will be no pain. If it exists inside, then shaving off the outer hair and skin will not cause burning pain, so it is not there either. If it is thought to exist on the body, then when clothes, ornaments, food, wealth, and enjoyment are all taken or used by others, there will be discomfort, pain, and unbearable attachment and aversion, so it is not there either. If it is thought to exist in the external realm, then all containers and contents are clung to as "mine," but in reality, "I" cannot be established from their respective different names either. Although all containers and contents that appear outside of "I" appear to be established separately, all appearances, like dreams, this life's appearances, and future life's appearances, are like the body and shadow, water and moisture, fire and heat. Although all containers and contents are dominated by "I," "I" does not exist anywhere. Finally, observing and analyzing the realm of sentient beings: all appearances and existence have become the basis and essence of the great illusion of the so-called "I," so the realm of sentient beings itself is emptiness. Everything in the three realms arises from the illusion of self-grasping, so there is no other realm of sentient beings besides that. The master of sentient beings has not appeared and does not exist, so the realm naturally disappears into nothingness. Thus it is said. Again, Clear Radiance asked, "If it is certain that the three, birth, existence, and cessation, do not exist and cannot be established, then what is the transmission from appearance to appearance? Please, Lord, explain." The Lord replied, "Son of noble family, when the consciousness of self-grasping manifests, 'I' and 'mine' arise from one's own nature, and then dissolve back into one's own nature, the ground emptiness, unindicated, is all-pervasive, alternately arising and gathering, so dreams and daytime appearances, the appearances of the three realms, all appear as mere appearances without existence, so there is no place to go and no goer, and the realm and Om, know that the master cannot be established. Thus it was said." Again, Bodhisattva Clear Radiance asked, "Lord, Blessed One, when self-grasping dissolves into the Dharmadhatu, is it not annihilation? Please, Lord, explain." The Lord replied, "Son of noble family, when the mind of self-grasping dissolves into the Dharmadhatu, the qualities of the ground nature also manifest."

That which is unaccomplished and unpredicted is the cause of self-grasping. Therefore, the continuous arising of self-grasping due to the cause of ignorance is called the self-grasping of a person. Thus it was said. Again, Clear and Pervasive Lord said: World Honored One, what is the nature of emptiness of external objects? Please, World Honored One, explain it. Having asked thus, the Buddha replied: These names, objects, and characteristics that arise from the self-grasping of phenomena, which is grasped as 'I,' do not have any established basis. One should examine them in this way. First, examine the basis of names to determine that the names of the body are all empty. As for what is called 'head,' examine what it is based on. Hair is not the head from hair, eyes are not the head from eyes. Ears are not the head from ears, nose is not the head from nose, tongue is not the head from tongue. Likewise, skin, flesh, bones, blood, lymph, veins, etc., each appears with its own name, but the 'head' is not established. Thus it was said. Clear and Pervasive Lord said: World Honored One, although they are not established separately, are they not called 'head' when gathered together? Having asked thus, the Buddha replied: Son of noble family, in general, observe that there are many things that are gathered together but are not called 'head.' If someone grinds another's head into dust and gathers it together, no matter to whom it is shown, it will not be called 'head.' Also, if it is mixed with water and made into a ball, the name 'head' will not be applied. And the head that appears in dreams, the head that appears during the day, the head that appeared in the past, and the head that will appear in the future, when these are gathered together, whatever wounds, swellings, tumors, glands, or moles there may be, they must appear at all times, but they do not appear like that. Furthermore, are the heads each different? Have all the previous heads disappeared? Or is it simply revealing a flaw that never existed in the first place? If it is said that 'head' is spoken of because it looks upwards, then it is necessary to examine the top and bottom of the sky. Examining how the beginning, end, top, and bottom of the sky are established, nothing is established there. Likewise, as for what is called 'eye,' examine what it is based on. All blisters are not called 'eye,' skin, blood, fat, veins, etc.
