In the state of clear light dawning, within a week, the grossness of the body gradually diminishes, eventually leaving only remnants such as hair and nails, the body transforming into fine particles, this is called minor transference. Even for those of superior or middling faculties, this phenomenon of the body transforming into fine particles occurs. Alas! Wisdom Vajra and others, assembled retinue, listen and contemplate. For the spontaneously accomplished youthful vase body, the extraordinary qualities are: The obscuration of ignorance is purified in the expanse of reality, from the alaya consciousness, the dharmakaya arises. The wisdom of radiance manifests, from the clarity of radiance, it is superior. Realizing the great selflessness, from the manifestation of self-grasping, it is superior. Body and wisdom manifest, from appearance, it is superior. The manifestation of seeing all that is, from mind, wisdom is superior. Attaining Buddhahood in one's own place, it is superior to traversing pure lands. Being free from all extremes of elaboration, it is superior to dependent origination and causes. Possessing eight liberations, it is superior to all paths and fruits. The expanse and wisdom are equally mingled, it is superior to existence. Possessing nine great superiorities, for the perfectly complete Buddha, all the victorious ones praise exceedingly. Thus it was said. Again, all the assembly of Wisdom Vajra and others: Alas! Teacher, Bhagavan! Now, in this time of the flourishing of the five degenerations, due to the wildness of sentient beings: Some, due to lack of food and wealth, strive for that purpose, wasting their lives; some are lost in distraction and laziness, spending their lives in that way; some strive to conquer enemies and protect relatives, with thoughts of greed for profit and fame never ceasing, spending their lives in that way; some are distracted by the activities of the eight worldly concerns, being deluded by the perfections of samsara; some are controlled by demons and obstacles, their practice becoming lax, and so on, due to few favorable conditions and many unfavorable conditions, those who reach the ground of liberation are very few; if they cannot be liberated there, they must go to the intermediate state, therefore, please, Teacher, explain the key points of practice there as they are. Oṃ (Tibetan: ༀ, Devanagari: ओम्, IAST: oṃ, Literal meaning: Om)! Please teach! Thus they requested. The Buddha spoke: Alas! Wisdom Vajra and others assembled

Listen, all assembled retinues! The nature of what is called "Bardo" is: The ordinary consciousness of the present moment, clear and bright, unfabricated, unadulterated, is precisely this. Why is that? Because by not realizing it, one wanders endlessly in samsara; by realizing it, one is liberated from suffering. This very consciousness, if liberated in the three times, will not become a Buddha; if not liberated, it will not wander in samsara, but will remain in the unpredicted state of Bardo, which is the characteristic of sentient beings. The arising of sentient beings from the fundamental ignorance is like the sun. The arising of conceptual thoughts from the mind is like sunlight. The arising of appearances from mental events is like sunshine. Manifesting the clear and bright aspect of the mind's nature is like the eye itself. The definition of mind is that it thinks because of appearances. Thus, the basis of mind arises naturally in the nature of Bardo. The definition of Bardo is the illusory appearance, like a dream, without support, between the passing away of the previous existence and the arising of the next existence. Classifying it, there are: one, the Bardo of taking birth; two, the Bardo of meditation samadhi; three, the Bardo of dream illusions; four, the Bardo of the dissolving stages at the time of death; five, the Bardo of the inconceivable nature of reality; six, the Bardo of karmic existence. Among these, the example of the first, the Bardo of birth and dwelling, is like a bird on a tree, which does not stay for long but is of the nature of going to another world. Thinking about its nature, reduce the preparation for staying for a long time, and first, like a bee gathering nectar, cut off the attachments of hearing and thinking, and at the time of practice, cut off doubt and hesitation, like a bird entering its nest. The bird that is most skilled at observing among birds first carefully examines for a long time whether there is passage and harm from other creatures in the place when building a nest, and after deciding, it builds a nest. Once the nest is built, it comes straight in like an arrow without doubt or hesitation and enters the nest. Similarly, first rely on a qualified teacher, and through extensive and profound hearing, without error in the essential points of the path,
