Of, if you don't lose the self-possession of awareness, why would you be confused in other wrong paths? Samaya! The practice of Chö is very important, it is very important to have the conviction to cut the four maras in the space of reality, the mara with obstacles and the mara without obstacles, the mara of joy and sorrow and the mara of pride, these can be cut in the space of reality. Whatever external forms, sounds, smells, tastes, if they suddenly appear, immediately, when thoughts suddenly arise, it is the mara that is acting, clinging to it, attachment and clinging become the mara with obstacles. Regarding this, as soon as you see, hear, and feel, the appearance of all phenomena is the illusion of your own mind, cut it off in a great thoroughfare without a place to dwell. Do not cling to external objects, look at your own mind, and be sure that the appearance of all phenomena is the manifestation of your own mind, and the deception of the mara will be dissolved in the space of reality. In short, for those composed of form, appearing in the realm of the senses, arising from conditions, recognize that this is the mara with obstacles, and be free from clinging and hope, and abide in your own nature, then you will be able to cut off the obstacles with it. If you do not recognize and cling to external objects, you will be controlled by the mara with obstacles, which is easy to deceive, so be careful. When thoughts arise, immediately say "Phat! (藏文)", in the indivisibility of clarity and emptiness, strike it violently, and abide in this state, and you will cut off the obstacles. Because there is no external cause, joy, sorrow, agitation, anger, quarrels, intimacy, relatives, and attachment to the five desires, or ignorance and weariness from the depths of the heart, etc., all kinds of inner feelings, suddenly arise without cause, if hope and worry arise, then the mara is acting, clinging and grasping are all maras without obstacles. At this time, for happiness, pain, anger, and all attachment and hatred towards enemies and friends, say "Phat! (藏文)" cut off the continuation of thoughts, in the great realm of clarity and emptiness without clinging, strike it violently, and then relax. You are also beautiful, brave and powerful, now diligently practicing, possessing merits, possessing residence, enjoyment and wealth, possessing great benefits and power, If the thought of grasping and clinging arises depending on these, then the mara is acting, clinging to it, and generating joy, sorrow, and frustration, this is the mara of joy and sorrow. The secret to cutting it off is that grasping and clinging are originally selfless, recognizing that the appearance of all phenomena is like an illusion, say "Phat! (藏文)" completely cut off the continuation of thoughts, in emptiness and clarity, abide in the non-dual and non-clinging state. These three are the mara of pride.

Gathered. That is not an ordinary demon. It displays various appearances of phenomena. It deceives awareness and ignorance into the mind. Lethargy, dullness, obscurity, and scattering, agitation dissipate. Thoughts arise like a string of beads. Unable to grasp the ground of awareness, It conceptualizes the objects of the three times. It falls under the power of the five poisons of affliction. This is called the arrogant demon. (Tibetan), phraṃ (Sanskrit Romanization), (Sanskrit Devanagari), to destroy, to cut off, to annihilate. In short, at all times, Whatever thoughts arise, When they arise, if one is controlled by the power of craving and attachment, That is the arrogant demon. The instruction for cutting off this demon is: Whatever thoughts arise, With a fierce and short sound of "ཕཊ་" (Tibetan), phaṭ (Sanskrit Romanization), फट् (Sanskrit Devanagari), cut, break, subdue, Mingle space and awareness inseparably, Into one taste, and rest relaxed. Whatever thoughts arise, Stare directly at its own Essence. In the state of awareness-emptiness, release without a trace. If you pay too much attention to thoughts, Only stronger attachment will arise. Cutting off attachment is the key of keys. At all times, these thoughts, Let them dissipate in a hidden state. Shake the three skies, maintain the clarity of mind. Since the seer and the seen are non-dual, Look in a way that cannot be seen. Looking does not reveal the face of one's own mind. Seeing does not realize the meaning of the nature of reality. In the absence of anything to meditate on, Do not be distracted for even a moment. Awareness is the clear light Dharmakaya, Samsara and Nirvana are completely fulfilled within oneself. This is the great perfection within perfection, It is the place of liberation for all phenomena. The yogis who realize the definitive meaning, The external realm Does not exist, it is only the nature of one's own mind. Even if appearances and existence collapse, do not be afraid. The appearance of form is like ripples in water, It does not come from anywhere other than the water itself. Whatever appears is the playful display of the nature of reality. If you grasp the ground of awareness, Even if you encounter hundreds of thousands of executioners, Since the killer and the killed are non-dual, Having realized certainty, there is no fear. The mandala of all Buddhas is complete within one's own mind, Knowing this is realizing the definitive meaning. For this, even one's own mind does not exist. The yogi who realizes in this way, Is oneself becoming a Buddha, self-enlightened. Future fortunate beings with karma, Should realize in this way and gain conviction. Samaya. Liberate the grasped and the grasper into their own nature, For the sake of the solitude of body, speech, and mind, Seize a stronghold in an uncertain mountain. In order to be free from hope and fear, signs, And to generate experiences of realization and forceful experiences, In cemeteries, forests, mountain forests, And dangerous rocks, dangerous waters, ominous forests, Also at crossroads, empty houses, vast plains, Places where ghosts gather.
