King Kunthu of Beta, an eloquent speaker, went to the sun-viewing balcony outside the palace and performed a purification ritual with his inner and outer ministers. At that time, as rainbows and clouds thickened in the sky, and sunlight and drizzle fell, the king said to his retinue: "Alas, listen, wise people! Today, my mind has transformed, and immeasurable joy and happiness have arisen, unlike before! This sign of the elements between heaven and earth, such as this unprecedented sight, what do you all think?" At that time, a great minister named Dondrup said: "Excellent, great king! Just like your enlightened mind, I also feel the same joy and happiness. Is this a manifestation of the power of the gods, such as Ishvara, or a vision of the powerful gods and protectors whom the great king has worshipped and served?" The king replied, "Yes, Your Majesty." Then, in the sky in front of the king and ministers, in the center of a tent of intertwined rainbows and red light, I disguised myself as the great Ishvara, and immediately everyone prostrated before me, saying: "Alas, we are fortunate and blessed! Seeing your face brings happiness in this life and the next! We will certainly carry out all your commands! We offer our bodies, wealth, children, and wives, please accept them and protect us without separation!" They swore, vowed, and made oaths. "You are definitely the great Ishvara! Please show us whether or not you are!" They said, respectfully bowing and joining their palms. Then, I revealed my true form, saying: "I am Padmasambhava, the subduer of demons!" Nyom! (藏文种子字, Tibetan seed syllable) In all the kingdoms of India, the heretical views of non-Buddhists are spreading, leading sentient beings astray into evil destinies. Therefore, my only purpose is to benefit beings. Transform your kingdom into a land of Dharma, and place those who can be tamed on the ground of liberation and freedom. After that, he saw that the kingdom of Tho kar could be subdued, and descended on the tenth day of the tiger month; the dakini Secret Great Empowerment Mother (dbang mos) acted as an assistant, and received the blessings of hundreds of thousands of formless dakinis; descending from the sky with miraculous power, he meditated in the cave of Sindhura; the king sent a messenger and said: In our country, no Buddhists are allowed to live except for heretics; there is a strict law, so you also, because you are not that religion, leave quickly; if you stay, you will be put to death by the law. Having said that, I replied: I have come here because I have important things to do; the body has no birth, old age, sickness, and death, so even if I am killed, I will not die; the mind has no hope and fear, so I am not afraid of the law; the place has no good or bad, so I live in this rock cave; the work is only Dharma, so I abandon worldly affairs; I will not follow the heretical views of the heretics; King, you do what you want. When the messenger said this to the king, the king was very angry and his anger flared up; he summoned all the internal and external ministers and said: Religious beliefs are different, Nyom (ཉྃ, seed syllable, nyom, no meaning), a yogi from the border came; I don't know where he came from, he has never been here but he has arrived here; he is not afraid of anything, he speaks empty words; tie him up and bind him tightly with ropes; say burn him with fire and see how he manifests. After that, all the ministers, carrying sandalwood and sesame oil; let everyone carry a bundle of firewood. In this way, they carried it and placed it in the middle of the pile; set fire to it and burn him alive.
