For phlegm diseases, warm and sharp medicines should be used. For bile diseases, sweet and cooling medicines should be administered. Thigh diseases are caused by the accumulation of phlegm and fat, which suppresses the wind, leading to severe thigh stiffness. The symptoms of this disease are extreme heaviness and difficulty in stretching. For this condition, one should first perform a rough medicine treatment to eliminate phlegm, and then perform all the rituals to eliminate wind. Scrofula is not congenital but arises from stagnation, lack of suffering, or excessive exertion, leading to wind and blood disorders. It initially resides in the legs and feet and later invades the body. The symptoms of scrofula with a predominance of wind are: pain, bone pricking and cracking, emaciation, roughness, and dark complexion. The symptoms of scrofula caused by blood and bile are: red and swollen complexion, sharp pain, oozing pus and ulceration, pain, fever, and smooth complexion. The symptoms of scrofula caused by phlegm are: not very painful, but itchy and stiff, and very swollen. The symptoms of scrofula caused by a mixture of two or three causes should be judged based on the combination of the above symptoms. Scrofula caused by a single cause is easy to treat. Scrofula caused by a mixture of two causes, and which has occurred for less than a year, can be treated with food and medicine. Alternatively, any kind of meat from aquatic creatures, such as fish, should be finely crushed, seasoned with various spices, and thoroughly cooked before applying. For excessive rashes caused by Tripa, apply a paste made from licorice powder mixed with ghee, milk, and flour. Alternatively, apply a powder made from the ten medicinal ingredients called "Nourishing" mixed with ghee. For excessive rashes caused by Beken, use Ashvagandha (अश्वगन्धा, Ashvagandha, Smell of the horse) and sesame seed powder, or mustard seed powder, or Punarnava (पुनर्नवा, Punarnava, Becoming new again) and Shikru powder. Any of these can be mixed with cow urine and applied. For itching caused by rashes, consume a mixture of Haritaki powder and jaggery. Alternatively, drink the broth boiled with Sletres. Alternatively, drink the medicinal essence of Pippali boiled in milk, increasing five Pippalis each day until the number of Pippalis reaches one hundred.
