The butter that is strained after boiling the juice of medicinal herbs is a remedy for epidemics, consumption, wasting diseases, phlegm, and brain diseases. With these treatments, for all chronic epidemics, if the disease focus has not moved to the Long-ga (Sanskrit: Rāmagrāma, meaning Joyful Garden) site, then both medicinal butter and potent purgatives should be administered according to the ritual. The method of administering medicinal butter is as follows: Boil white sandalwood, utpala flowers, tavala, licorice, agaru, and kula-ka together with sesame oil, and administering it will cure all epidemics. Alternatively, administering medicinal butter made by combining patola, po-son-cha, arista, sle-tres, licorice, etc. with sesame oil will also cure epidemics. Grind two sho (藏文：ཞོ，equivalent to the current gram) of each into a fine powder. Boil one hundred and twenty-eight lyang (藏文：སྲང，equivalent to the current gram) of sesame oil and four times the amount of water as sesame oil together, filter it, and administer this sesame oil in appropriate doses to cure all epidemic diseases and eliminate all severe wind diseases. The so-called method of administering a potent purgative is as follows: Boil the root of patola, po-son-cha, pu-tse-shel, ge-ze-ma, dong-ga, stir, vala, ari-sha, la-gang, and pu-shel-tse together in milk and a mixture of half milk and half water. After boiling with water, strain the remaining milk, add honey and butter, and then add powdered po-son-cha, la-gang, pi-pi-ling, poison arrow, and licorice. Administering this mixture to eliminate all epidemics will cause the disease focus to be expelled from the body, making the body extremely pure, thereby immediately eliminating the epidemic. In the context of these medicinal administrations, the dosage of the medicine and other ritual details are not mentioned because they will be explained in detail in the chapter on the five actions below. For those afflicted by debilitating fever, mix boiled milk with པི་པི་ལིང་ powder and drink it without considering anything else. Alternatively, in boiled milk, increase the amount of པི་པི་ལིང་ by ten each day and drink it. When the number of པི་པི་ལིང་ reaches one hundred, then decrease it by ten each day and drink it. Boil milk and ghee, let it cool, mix it with honey, sugar, and པི་པི་ལིང་, stir it, and drink it. This will eliminate debilitating fever, heart pain, lung rupture, phlegm, and consumptive diseases like tuberculosis. Mix བི་ཝའི་ powder with melted ghee, or with yogurt, or with milk and the juice of cow's tongue, and drink it to eliminate debilitating fever. Alternatively, when you first feel the onset of fever, eat a full meal, drink plenty of sweet wine, and sleep, and you will recover. Alternatively, mix pomegranate, salt, and old ghee and instill it.
