It is explained in detail that whatever is perverse is abandoned. The mention of "in detail" highlights the characteristics of the Sutra, which is to abandon the thought of happiness in suffering, purity in impurity, self in no-self, and the perverted mind and views. Therefore, the saying "completely aroused" arises. The saying "others are not" refers to thoughts and minds that are similar to those that are abandoned through meditation, which, although wrong, do not have the same qualities as views, and therefore do not belong to perversion. If it were not so, then all afflictions would become perverted, and an Arhat who gets lost on the path or mistakes a rope for a snake would also have perverted thoughts. Therefore, only serious perversions are considered perversions, and others are not. And the serious perversions have already been shown to be due to perversion, certainty, and superimposition. Therefore, in the continuum of a learner, the afflicted thoughts that arise universally do not obtain the name of perversion. The saying "because at that time it is only an illusion" refers to the fact that at the time of seeing, etc., it is only an illusion. For the noble ones, there is no illusion of thoughts and minds about external women and their own happiness and purity. Precisely for this reason, the illusion of a fire wheel and a painted yaksha is used as an example. For example, just as one has an illusion about a fire wheel and a painted yaksha simply by seeing them without careful examination, so too a noble one has an illusion about sentient beings for a short time without careful examination. Just as this is not a perversion, so too the noble one's thoughts, mind, and illusion are not perversions. If the noble ones' thoughts and mind only have illusions at certain times and are not continuous, then how can we explain the detailed description of the Venerable Ananda? The noble Lord of Speech said to the Venerable Ananda: "Because of being overwhelmed by desire, my mind is tormented. Gautama, you..."

Out of your compassion, please explain the supreme peaceful Dharma. Having said this, the noble Ananda said: Because of distorted perceptions, your mind is completely tormented. Therefore, one who possesses attachment should abandon the evil cause. Thus he spoke, this was not only spoken as a mistake at that time, but it is constantly entered into, and it possesses distortion. Therefore, the tenet of the Vaibhashikas contradicts other schools, and the tenet of other schools also contradicts the Vaibhashikas. The statement that all eight types of distorted perceptions and minds have not been abandoned means that only four have not been abandoned. Now, all twelve distortions will be abandoned by seeing the truth, and the sutra that the Vaibhashikas cite as the source, refuting what contradicts it, is that those also are the noble truths, etc.

Conceit is pride. If this has not fallen into perversion, shouldn't it be considered not pride? Because this, like desire, causes things to change, it is attachment. This has not fallen into perversion, so shouldn't it be considered not an affliction? Because it afflicts the mind, it is called an affliction. Arising from the object of focus on equality and inferiority, as well as equality and superiority, and the aspect of focusing on non-excellence and excellence, it is also considered pride because it makes the mind arrogant, just like being extremely confused about what is and is not the case. Thinking that one is superior to equals in terms of lineage, etc., is excessive pride. Thinking that one is even more superior than those who are superior only in those aspects is pride beyond pride. The term "five aggregates of appropriation" will be explained in detail. Because pride arises from clinging to these as "I," "I" is the five aggregates of appropriation. Thinking "I am" and being proud is equal pride. This also possesses all that can be known. Regarding the "I" and "mine" in the view of the aggregates of destruction, without perversion, thinking that one has attained the qualities of ground, path, abandonment, realization, etc., without having attained them, is increased pride. What is the meaning of "not having attained the qualities that should be attained"? If it is said that attainment is attainment itself, then it means that one has not attained the attainment of those qualities, because saying "attainment also has attainment" is the view of a sect. Thinking that one is slightly inferior to those who are extremely superior in terms of householders and renunciants, as well as patience and discipline, etc., through speech, is the pride of thinking slightly. Thinking that one possesses qualities when one does not possess qualities is called wrong pride. What is meant by not possessing qualities is the opposite of qualities, bad conduct. Therefore, even so, although one does not possess qualities, one thinks that one possesses qualities and is complacent with bad conduct, this is wrong pride. Others use "ma" as a condition to express the negative meaning of "na," that is, one does not have true qualities.
