Furthermore, for each inverted view, due to the inversion of mind and perception, it becomes four sets of three, i.e., twelve. It is for this very reason that it is stated, "Regarding permanence as permanent." Among them, eight are to be abandoned by seeing. For the two, "impermanence" and "selflessness," there are inverted perceptions, minds, and views. And for the two, "suffering" and "impurity," there are inverted views. These eight are to be abandoned by seeing. The statement arises that "four are to be abandoned by cultivation." In order to show these, it is stated that there are inverted perceptions and minds regarding suffering and impurity. "Freedom from desire" refers to stream-enterers and once-returners. If one considers those to be inverted, then "inverted mind and perception" is a synonym for them. "The perception and mind of sentient beings arise universally" refers to the perception of sentient beings arising universally, and the mind of sentient beings arising universally. Why would one not consider those to be inverted as well? That is, the inverted perception of sentient beings and the inverted mind of sentient beings. Since there is no special reason, why would one not consider them? In order to show that there is no special reason, the phrase "regarding women and self" is explained extensively. "Self" is the enjoyer, because one enters into the thought, "This is to be enjoyed." In this way, regarding selflessness, the inverted perception and mind that think "mine" also become something to be abandoned by cultivation. The sutra also states that merely by seeing the truths, all inversions are abandoned, and there is nothing to be abandoned by cultivation. For example, a noble hearer who is endowed with hearing fully understands, as it is, that "this is the noble truth of suffering." He fully understands that "this is the origin of suffering." He fully understands that "this is the cessation of suffering." He fully understands that "this is the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering." At that time, regarding impermanence, the inverted perception that thinks of permanence, the inverted mind, and the inverted view
