Attachment to destruction is the belief that there is a self. (This is how it is said.) In other cases, it is also attachment to the aggregate of decay. Merely viewing oneself as the self is called attachment to the aggregate of decay, and not something else. (This is how it is said.) Here, merely because destruction is mentioned, there is no way to conceive that there is an aggregate different from it. Therefore, it should not be called attachment to the aggregate, but attachment to the aggregate of decay. If it is said that the faults of the upholders would be too extreme, it is because everything enters wrongly, leading to error, a reversed entry, which is to eliminate correct views. Everything refers to attachment to the aggregate of decay, and so on. How can it be said to be just one? Because it possesses an excellent reversed entry, it is said so. This is called defamation because they believe that truths such as suffering do not exist. The other is augmentation, because attachment to the aggregate of decay and so on will augment the self and others. If it is said that because it is said, "Whatever is impermanent is suffering," should one also separately speak of permanence as the eternal, joyful, self, and pure? It should not be said, because attachment to permanence enters under the control of the self. This is not attachment to permanence; these are the words of the debater. To this, some answer: merely holding to extreme views under the control of the self, even if this is not done to the extreme, but because it arises and enters due to the power of attachment to the aggregate of decay, they wish to manifest it as the self. From the perspective of things, viewing it as permanent or annihilationist is itself holding to extreme views. Thinking that impermanence is permanence is also holding to extreme views. Thinking that suffering is happiness is holding views as the most supreme. Because it is said, "Whatever is impermanent is suffering," it should be understood that attachment to permanence is also spoken of. Here, all reversed entries are called wrong views. Because the noble ones have abandoned it. (This is how it is said.) It means to abandon it. The sound of "etc." is not manifested, because it is not merely holding a certain view as the most supreme, but what is it? It is the five aggregates of grasping. Therefore.

Therefore, here, for "regarding seeing as supreme" etc., the word "etc." should be regarded as implicit. Others say: When "regarding seeing as supreme" is established, the word "supreme" is to understand that it is the most excellent among all views. Therefore, it is meaningless to consider the word "etc." as implicit. For "entering fire and water," the word "etc." includes fasting, entering cliffs, offering to cliffs, burning, pulling hair, and so on. For "the knowledge of Samkhya yoga, etc.," here also the word "etc." includes understanding the six meanings of words, and so on. It is said that here also the word "etc." has been made implicit. For "it is said," discipline and asceticism are included in the form aggregate, and for the five aggregates of appropriation, here they are viewed in terms of cause and path, so here also the word "etc." has been made implicit. Others say: It should be understood that the word "supreme" is to enter into excellence because of extreme combination. It is said that only discipline and asceticism are definitely taken from the sutras, so the word "etc." is shown to be unreasonable. If regarding what is not a cause as a cause is widely arisen, because it enters into origination and so on, then this can only abandon the view of origination, but not the view of suffering, this is what is thought. For regarding Ishvara or the Lord of beings as a cause, it arises widely, because only those who have become the result understand Ishvara and so on as aggregates, so after realizing that the aggregates are permanent, one, self, and agent, they will understand Ishvara and so on as causes. For "those permanent" etc. arises widely, only at the time of directly realizing suffering can one obtain the knowledge of no-self, but not afterwards. What should be abandoned by seeing suffering is only the view of the perishable collection and the view of clinging to extremes. As it is said: Because this does not see suffering, and because it does not see it, it regards it as self. Having truly known suffering as it is, then this will no longer regard it as self. It is said. Therefore, merely seeing the Dharma cannot be regarded as self.
