For the sake of being a retinue of the Sangha, requesting the Blessed One to abide in few activities, having generated sinful thoughts, just as one completely falls away from magical powers, so too do they completely fall away due to the arising of all kinds of views. The sutra says: Then, Devadatta, overwhelmed by gain and respect, was completely occupied in his mind, "Alas, if the Blessed One would grant me the pure Sangha of monks, how wonderful! The Sangha of monks would be my retinue, and the Blessed One would abide happily in the visible dharma, requesting to abide in few activities," such a sinful thought arose. As soon as Devadatta generated that thought, he completely fell away from those magical powers, which is a vast statement. Similarly, they also wander everywhere due to the various afflictions of views, therefore, at the same time as generating views, they completely fall away. If one has completely fallen away, then how can one manifest as bhumiṣṭha? Because it arises quickly. If one is accustomed to that, then why does one fall away? This is a rebuttal. Because this answer was not accepted, nothing arises here. dṛṣṭa yo vitad bhyu miṣṭa e biti āstū vā (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) Grasping that reason, it arises quickly. Because one is not accustomed to other kinds, one will completely fall away. In this way, obtaining the peak of existence is also the same, because one cultivates such a distant antidote, it is particularly in accordance with the particular part, from the first dhyana, one completely falls away with one mind. If twenty-eight subtle afflictions must be abandoned by the path of seeing, then why is it said that eighty-eight are to be abandoned by the path of seeing? It should be said that this is intentional, it is spoken with consideration for the gradual order. It also considers the activity of the undefiled path, because those who are separated from desire between the realm of nothingness, the path of seeing can manifest the attainment of that separation, so it is said that way. Abandoning the perception of permanence and the perception of completeness

Furthermore, as it is said, the term "decay" is taught to abandon the perception of permanence. The term "aggregate" is to abandon the perception of wholeness. The statement "having those as a precursor" means that the perception of permanence and wholeness are precursors. Separated from this, one will be separated from the clinging to self, because without a cause, there is no result. The statement "all that is focused on with outflows" means that all five aspects are included. The statement "focused on with outflows" means that it is even more distinguished than focusing on the outflowless. "Decay-aggregate" refers to the five aggregates of appropriation. Since everything is the object of decay-aggregate, why is it said that only the view of self and what belongs to self is the view of decay-aggregate? It is to show the absence of self and what belongs to self. Therefore, it is said to realize that this is the view of decay-aggregate, and not self and what belongs to self. The source for this is as it is extensively explained in the sutra beginning with "Monks." Others say that the word "decay" here is meaningless, because impermanence is known through the word "aggregate." If no one considers the aggregate to be permanent, then one would only cling to it as an aggregate. But this is not the case, because it is to negate the single entity of the aggregates and to negate the permanence of their appropriation. As previously stated, it is to abandon the perception of permanence and the perception of wholeness. Since both are accepted, there is no basis for the Sthaviras to point out faults. The teacher Bhadanta Sangharakshita says, "'Exists' means that there is a collection of aggregates, meaning it is not singular." In this context, because of the activity of the existence of self, that view does not exist, therefore it focuses on what has not become existent. Therefore, the word "decay" is for that purpose. If the object of decay itself is established as the existence of self, then what? Therefore, it is said to be an "aggregate," because those who claim to have a self would say that the entire body or each body is a single self. The statement "this is not an aggregate" refers to focusing on consciousness that has not become a body.
