This sutra has no power to act, why? Because it is said that those born at the peak of existence, who are to be subdued by patience, are all abandoned by seeing, and those who cannot be subdued by patience are all said to be abandoned by cultivation. Some say: The seeing and cultivation of the transcendent, the saying of being subdued by patience, this is unreasonable. Others say that the outsiders, etc., are widely proclaimed. Thus, those born at the peak of existence, who are only to be subdued by patience, are not abandoned by seeing, but if so, why? It is said to be born in all lands. This is what it means. The Great Sutra of Karma Differentiation is widely spoken of. In that Great Sutra of Karma Differentiation, Ananda! This is between abandoning killing and abandoning wrong views. Here, too, there is no joy, and each does not rejoice. After the body is destroyed and dies, one falls into evil destinies and evil paths, and is born in the hells of sentient beings. Those outside heretics, practitioners, or Brahmins, whatever they may be, with the divine eye of supernatural power and those who know the minds of others, having seen it, they think like this: the body has not been well practiced, and there is no ripening of good practice of the body; speech and mind have not been well practiced, and there is no ripening of good practice of speech and mind. Thus they think. Thus, for those who are free from attachment, it is said that all views that focus on the desire realm arise. This wrong view is focused on the desire realm, because that karma is practiced in desire, and hell also exists only in that realm. Among the discriminations of the past, those who speak of permanence and those who say that they arise without cause, for those who are free from attachment, all views that focus on the desire realm arise, as stated in the Brahma Net Sutra. In the discriminations of the past, those who speak of permanence, only what is said by the wise should be briefly shown, that is, here, whether the practitioner or Brahmin dwells in the Aranya or under a tree.

Even if staying in an empty house is fine. Through the cause of complete familiarization, the cause of abandonment, the cause of meditation, the cause of repeated practice, and the cause of well-conducted behavior, in what way does one keep the mind equally abiding, so that one can accurately remember the twenty eons of formation and destruction? Like that, one will touch the peaceful samadhi of the mind. He will think like this: "I and this world are permanent." It is said in the sutra. Therefore, if one clings to permanence in that way, focusing on oneself and the world, then that is focusing on the desire realm. Similarly, other those who contemplate the past and speak of permanence also focus on the desire realm. That is starting from some who speak of permanence. Monks, the world is destroyed... and extensively, any sentient being whose life is exhausted, whose merit is exhausted, and whose karma is exhausted, dies from that place and is reborn, like this, sharing the same fate as humans, and then gradually grows up, and the senses are fully matured, even if staying in a solitary place, even if staying under a tree.

will die. Then, any sentient being whose life is exhausted, whose merit is exhausted, and whose karma is exhausted, will die and transfer from that place, and will come to have the same fate as humans in this way. Then, gradually growing up, after the faculties are fully matured, even if staying in a monastery, it will flourish. Like this, abiding in equanimity, how will one remember the previous cognition, and with such a mind, touch the peaceful samadhi. He will think like this: I and the world arise entirely from no cause, I did not appear before, but now I appear. Like this, it goes on until such a thought arises. Therefore, this wrong view that slanders causality is directed towards the desire realm. Because the self born here is particularly attached to having no cause, then how does this become a wrong view? Because it slanders the causes of the previous good deeds and bad deeds of myself and the world. Because of being free from desire for the desire realm. In order to eliminate the thought that their views are only active in the form realm, it is said that it is active in the form realm, and so on. Because of being free from desire. The afflictions of the higher grounds are not directed towards the lower grounds, because there is no desire for it. The Vaibhashikas say that it does not exist, if the non-Buddhists think that they will be born up to the peak of existence, then this should not become the universal arising of all the afflictions that are active in the desire realm, because just like the stream-enterers, etc., whichever of the afflictions that should be abandoned through seeing and meditation, will connect themselves with the desire realm. Those afflictions that are abandoned through meditation are free from desire, and those that are abandoned through seeing are not free from desire, what reason is there for this statement? If that is the case, then how can views directed towards the desire realm universally arise for those who are free from desire? The Vaibhashikas say that because those views disappear at the same time as they arise, just like Devadatta. For example, the virtue of the monk Devadatta
