Needless to say, what about those who have evil people? Whoever has an evil friend, that person increases evil thoughts, facilitates the near cause of evil, thereby diminishing the roots of virtue and increasing the roots of non-virtue. Therefore, you gradually diminish the roots of virtue and increase the roots of non-virtue, and from this, at some point, a wrong view of slandering cause and effect will arise. That wrong view will destroy all virtuous dharmas, and virtue will not abide in that person's continuum, and this alone is counted as cutting off virtue. For example, the uninterrupted path and the path of liberation, slandering the cause is like the uninterrupted path, because it simultaneously negates the attainment of virtuous roots. Slandering the result is like the path of liberation, because it simultaneously produces the attainment of slandering the result. Because of the difference in objects, there are two types of wrong views, therefore it is said, "Only focusing on what is with outflows," which refers to focusing on suffering and origin. It is said, "It is not without focusing on what is without outflows," because focusing on cessation and path does not slander cause and effect. Focusing on what is with outflows is also of two types because of focusing on realms of equal and unequal share, therefore it is said, "Only focusing on realms of equal share," meaning only focusing on the desire realm. It is said, "It is not focusing on realms of unequal share," it is not focusing on the form and formless realms. Furthermore, why does focusing on what is without outflows and focusing on realms of unequal share not completely cut off the roots of virtue? Therefore it is said, "Because it only increases or weakens through the aspect of being concordant," meaning that the wrong view of what is without outflows and higher realms only increases in the aspects that are concordant with which mental factors, not in the object. The word "only" indicates that it does not increase through the object.

It is to eliminate the interval of becoming a different saying. Those called "thus said" are the Sarvastivadins. Those called "all" are those that take the contaminated and uncontaminated as their objects, and those that take the realms of similar and dissimilar divisions as their objects. The nine aspects are also extensively explained. From the small, medium, and large, each is divided into small, medium, and large, so there are nine aspects. Just as the nine aspects of afflictions to be abandoned by seeing are abandoned in an instant by the forbearance of the knowledge of the Dharma of suffering, etc., so too, the nine aspects of virtuous roots are completely severed in an instant by great wrong views, so say the Sarvastivadins. If that is the case, this treatise is protected, namely: if it is explained sequentially like the afflictions to be abandoned by cultivation, otherwise it is not. Then, by the greatness of the non-virtuous root, namely: if it is sequential, it is also fine. In this treatise, it is said that the greatness of the non-virtuous root severs all virtuous roots, and also, like the afflictions to be abandoned by cultivation, it is completely severed sequentially, there is no contradiction. Those called "thus said" are the Sarvastivadins. Those called "both" are arisen and not arisen. Previously abandoning the vows, namely, it is because it is the fruit of the mind arising from application. Later, all virtuous roots are severed, namely, it is only completely explaining those that are naturally obtained. Those called "thus said" are the Sarvastivadins. The vows are the fruit of which mind, is extensively explained. There are two kinds of minds, namely, naturally obtained and arising from application. Each of them also has nine aspects, among which, abandoning the vows is the fruit of which mind, therefore also abandoning its fruit, the vows. Among them, if one takes the vows with the naturally obtained mind, the smallest of the small, then, therefore, in an instant, all virtuous roots are completely explained and the vows are abandoned. If one takes them with others, then therefore, previously abandoning the vows, later all virtuous roots are severed, it should not be said as one-sided. Wisdom without afflictions does not rely
