It is also the root of all transgressions. The phrase "solely with the intention of antidote" refers to the advice of a physician. If one knowingly becomes intoxicated and drinks without shame, or if one thinks that there is no transgression when accompanied by transgression, that very thought is a defilement. The phrase "will not become intoxicated" is explained in detail: If, in order to eliminate faults, one drinks after understanding from a physician's advice that it will not intoxicate like poison, that is not a defilement. If someone drinks with the intention of becoming intoxicated, thinking about how it will violate (the precepts), that thought is a defilement. Furthermore, in order to specifically establish that drinking alcohol itself is a faulty action, the Vinaya holders say: Intoxication is a transgression by its very nature. If intoxication were not a transgression by its very nature, then intoxication and suitable Shakya patients should be allowed (to drink). But in fact, it is not allowed, therefore intoxication is a transgression by its very nature, just like killing living beings, etc. Whoever, as noble beings, have obtained the vow not to commit (such actions) in future lives, that is a transgression by its very nature, just like taking vows to abstain from killing, etc. Because it is also said in the scriptures, "acting unwholesomely with the body," it is a transgression by its very nature, just like other unwholesome bodily actions. There are four types of unwholesome bodily actions: killing, taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, and drinking intoxicants. Although it has been generally stated, the word "of" indicates a detailed explanation: Although it has been commonly stated, how can monks act like servants? The phrase "except for transgressions by their very nature" is to exclude (special cases), and for Shakya patients, it is a special allowance. This avoids contradictions in the Buddha's teachings. In order to completely avoid faults, the word "cut off" means that even drinking once can lead to attachment. The Blessed One has also said that there are three things that cannot be satisfied: drinking alcohol, engaging in impure conduct, and indulging in sleep. Those who are correcting mistakes

If there are some drinks that do not cause intoxication, why are they not allowed? Therefore, it is said that because the degree of intoxication is uncertain. The drink itself, depending on the substance, nature, and physical condition, can sometimes be intoxicating and sometimes not. Therefore, drinking with the tip of a blade of grass is prohibited, which is to avoid turning into ashes, so drinking with the tip of a blade of grass is prohibited, and if done that way, it is cutting off the possibility of turning into ashes. The noble ones do not use it because they have a sense of shame. The sutra says that there are five powers of learning: the power of faith, the power of diligence, the power of shame, the power of conscience, and the power of wisdom. Therefore, it is only because of having a sense of shame that they do not drink. What is the reason why those with a sense of shame should not get drunk? Therefore, it is said that because that also causes one to lose memory. Drinking alcohol will cause one to forget what should and should not be done. If that is the case, then why not drink a little bit that does not cause memory loss? Therefore, it is said, do not consume even a little, like poison, because it is uncertain. For example, poison, with the right time, nature, and power, can sometimes cause death even in small doses, and similarly, alcohol can cause intoxication. The noble ones do not use it, so precepts are established, just like untimely food, so is alcohol, thus says the teacher Dusang. This is also because knowing that it will cause intoxication, they do not use it even more. The term 'misconduct' appears because it is a place of heedlessness, but not because it is a natural transgression, I think. Therefore, for this, that is, this training, grain alcohol and mixed alcohol, one should abandon the place of heedlessness, it is said. Not for others, that is, abandoning killing and so on. The reason for not mentioning it is that those are natural transgressions. Overly, completely relying on, thus extensively speaking, the Blessed One
