However, that is special, and the other is not like that. By what path does one obtain joy and cessation without relying on the proximity of the higher grounds? Because that is special, it will become its sequel. So, doesn't the sutra say to rely only on the front? Why specify the uninterrupted and the special meditative states? The sutra only speaks of the uninterrupted for a while. It is not just practicing and abiding in the first dhyana and so on, but it says that the outflows are completely exhausted by viewing with wisdom. In order to show the three samadhis, including those with investigation and analysis, the special meditative states are specified. The sutra says that the first dhyana is with investigation and analysis, and the second is the pacification of investigation and analysis. The second dhyana and so on are samadhis without investigation and analysis. So, what is the occasion of no investigation and only analysis? It will become the state of special meditative states. It will become, 'What is the cause of the Great Brahma being the master?' From the difference of other samadhis, there is also a difference of meditative states. The Blessed One said that the special meditative states were not mentioned in the uninterrupted because it is included in the first dhyana. Saying the first dhyana is saying it, because this is the proximity of the first dhyana, the uninterrupted, so it is the difference of proximity. The Vaibhashikas say that because this can establish all the grounds of samadhi, it is called uninterrupted. The samapatti object of the ground of the uninterrupted actual ground means not realizing the uninterrupted. Having that which corresponds to taste means that because that is the place of birth. There, taste is because of being born in Brahma. The craving of the actual ground is taste, just like the difference of taste, it is not possible to establish dependence on the difference of taste. That is neither pleasure nor pain, and there, there is the labor of consciousness.

Because there is no joy, there is no comfort. Because the quiescence is inferior and accompanied by manifest fabrication, it is not upright, therefore there is no joy. For that very reason, the path is difficult, but because it is free from desire, it is not suffering and discomfort. Therefore, it should be said that it is endowed with a feeling that is neither suffering nor comfort. The so-called five objects are so called because the objects are very attractive, therefore it does not refer to the faculties, but to the objects. The so-called three characteristics of conditioned phenomena are birth, aging, and impermanence. Others say that the word "characteristic" is a synonym for cause, because here there is no object, dharma, characteristic, and no cause, so it is called without characteristic. Others say that because it is free from the characteristic of time, Nirvana is without characteristic, and the samadhi that has it as its object is without characteristic. The so-called emptiness, selflessness, emptiness, is because the samadhi is selfless and has the aspect of emptiness, therefore it is the near antidote to the view of the aggregation of destruction, because the view of the aggregation of destruction is also twofold. Thus, the aspect of selflessness is the antidote to the view of self, and the aspect of emptiness is the antidote to the view of what belongs to self. Here, if the dharma is the aspect of selflessness, then it is the aspect of non-existence, and if the dharma is the aspect of selflessness, then it is the aspect of emptiness. The so-called being endowed with the remaining aspects of truth means the samadhi that is endowed with the aspects of truth other than the aspects of emptiness and selflessness and the aspects of cessation, which is the tenth aspect, namely the two aspects of impermanence and suffering, and each of the origin and the path has four aspects. The so-called because of aversion to impermanence, suffering, and their causes, refers to impermanence and suffering, and their cause is the origin, namely impermanence, suffering, and their causes, because of aversion to these. Because of the aspects of impermanence and suffering, there is aversion to suffering, and the cause and the origin and the arising and…
