For the cause of happiness, lightness is established as a limb of meditation, and it is expressed by the word happiness. For example, abandoning the three kinds of happiness is called the happiness that prevents turning away from happiness. This was previously a mistaken notion. If asked, why is the lightness of the third dhyana called happiness? If someone thinks, how does the consciousness of the body arise when entering into samadhi? Because they admit that all sources of happiness are in the body, it is impossible for the consciousness of the body to arise completely when entering into samadhi, because it looks outward, and two consciousnesses cannot exist simultaneously. What is called "born from the excellence of samadhi" is that the excellence of samadhi is the third dhyana, and what is born from it is born from the excellence of samadhi. What is called "lightness" refers to it, and it is called lightness because it makes the body soft. What is called "going to experience happiness" refers to the object of happiness. What is called "because it increases in the body" means that it pervades the body. The arising of the consciousness of the body when entering into samadhi is like that. The Vaibhashikas say: There, it does not refer to the state of existence, but rather to what arises from the joy and happiness of seclusion, thereby eliminating the unfavorable aspects of the body, the wind that benefits the body is not harmful, and the subtle particles of happiness pervade the body. (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanized, Chinese literal meaning) Because the body is cleared, it is believed that the consciousness of the body will arise. The fruit of this samadhi is like that, so its arising is not without fruit. If it is said that samadhi will decline because of outward distraction? No, because of its power, samadhi will become stable. Precisely for this reason, it is said in detail that "it arises from samadhi," because of the cause of samadhi, happiness arises within the body, so there is no outward distraction, and that happiness is in accordance with samadhi. If it manifests, samadhi will not decline. If the consciousness of the body

When consciousness arises, saying "arises and transforms" means that the body's consciousness is in accordance with samadhi, but it is only non-samadhi. Therefore, because the consciousness of samadhi ceases, and the non-samadhi consciousness of the body arises, it is said "arises and transforms." The reason for this is that when the body's consciousness arises, it does not arise, because the body's pleasure that arises from samadhi and occurs within the body is in accordance with samadhi, so it is said "the reason for this." Being in accordance with dhyana, but not becoming dhyana itself. For example, the mind of the practice of dhyana is only dhyana, and when the body's consciousness manifests, it only arises. Therefore, what is born from the practice of samadhi here is not dhyana. If it is said that it is not born from samadhi, but because it is in accordance with samadhi, it is called arising, then the example and the probandum are not the same. If someone asks: How does the body's root that walks in the desire realm arise extensively? Answer: The body's root that walks in the desire realm refers to the extreme pliancy that walks in the form realm. It is not an object of touch, and the consciousness that takes it as its object cannot be used as a basis, because "the three are all of their own nature." No, because extremely pliant consciousness will arise. The body's root that walks in the desire realm refers to the name of extreme pliancy that walks in the form realm. It only holds touch, and not its other nature, so there is no fault. It will also become uncontaminated, which means that for uncontaminated dhyana, both touch and body consciousness will also become uncontaminated. Why? Because it is not possible for one part of the limb to be contaminated and another part to be uncontaminated. Also, if touch and body consciousness are limbs, then what? Answer: Those two are not called limbs, then what are they? Answer: It is said that those two are similar to it and possess it, and because they are its objects, they are said to be uncontaminated. The extreme pliancy of the body is also completely purified.
