It is extensively explained as being in the nature of observation. By knowing the minds of others, one knows only the initial state. If one is afflicted by the feeling of suffering, it means that when those who intensely feel and discern all the essential points oppress one, one does not even remember oneself. How can one understand past lives or know the minds of others? Those who dwell in other realms constantly know, meaning those who dwell in the realms of pretas, animals, humans, and gods. Through their recollection of past lives and knowledge of others' minds, they constantly know. Like conches and birds such as the cuckoo. Pretas also know, as it is said: "Whatever enjoyments I have accumulated through harmony and disharmony, those are the enjoyments of others, while we are in suffering." This is how it is said. The recollection of non-birth is indeed seeing. Gods also remember, as it is said: "Served by assemblies of sages, and resided in by the king of Dharma, that which generates joy in me, this is the measure of the victorious one." Thus it is said. Similarly, it is also explained from where one has died and transmigrated, and where one is born, and so forth. What is not obtained by birth in humans refers to all miraculous powers and so on. What is obtained by birth, there are those who obtain it by possessing it, those who obtain it by being free from attachment, those who obtain it through realization and mantras, and those who obtain it through medicine and actions. It will be explained that these exist. That of those is born from the distinction of karma, meaning it is not obtained by birth. Why? Because the distinction of the nature obtained by birth is those that are of the same kind. The three kinds are extensively explained. The recollection of past lives is not solely the result of meditation. If not, what is it? Like miraculous powers, these are also of various kinds, as it is shown. This was arranged by the teacher Vasubandhu, the extensive commentary on the explanation of the Abhidharmakosha, the explanation of the reality of meaning, called "The Showing of Wisdom," which is the completion of the seventh chapter of the Kosha. Homage to the Protector of the World! In the chapter on knowledge, the qualities of the nature of knowledge have all been explained. Why is it said that the knowledge of exhaustion is the Buddha?

Generally speaking, the unique qualities of the Bhagawats, such as powers, etc.; the common qualities of the Shravakas, such as freedom from afflictions, knowledge by aspiration, and individual correct knowledge, etc.; and the common qualities of ordinary beings, such as clairvoyance, meditative absorption, and formless absorptions, etc., can be attained. These are the nature of knowledge and other natures. Among them, the nature of knowledge, from powers, etc., to the ultimate of clairvoyance, all these have already been explained in the context of knowledge. Among them, the statement that knowledge is defiled or undefiled, etc., is made to elaborately explain knowledge. Therefore, because of its connection with knowledge, only the qualities of the nature of knowledge are explained, and not the other natures. So now, the other natures, such as meditative absorption, formless absorption, and immeasurable states, are to be discussed. First, start with meditative absorption, because it is the main one. Why is it the main one? Because it is the basis of all qualities. Formless absorptions are also the basis of qualities, but not the basis of all qualities, so they are not mentioned first, but arise after that. Meditative absorption is of two kinds, which is due to the distinction between the meditative absorption of cause and effect. Therefore, the difference between the meditative absorption of arising and entering into equipoise is mentioned. Among them, the meditative absorption of arising is the result, and the meditative absorption of entering into equipoise is the cause. These are also four, from the first meditative absorption to the fourth. These alone summarize all the meditative absorptions, and the samadhis are classified. How the Buddhas, the Bhagawats, accomplish the distinctions of wisdom through these alone, while the Shravakas and Buddhas do not even know the names of these samadhis. Thus, briefly speaking, there are four meditative absorptions. The term "virtuous one-pointedness" is the common characteristic of the meditative absorption of entering into equipoise. Because there is also one-pointedness of mind that is afflicted or indeterminate, "virtuous" is mentioned. Because there is also virtue that is distracted, "one-pointed" is mentioned. Mind one-
