It shows without reason. Thereafter, regarding the arising of vows, the teacher extensively mentioned the word "also." How is it not contradictory to reason? Because the body is a similar part, and because it has made a connection there, because of remembrance. Thereafter, not showing it to anyone, the Vaibhashikas say that not all householders have faculties that are difficult to subdue. Therefore, it is impossible to arise thereafter, so it should be understood that it is not shown to anyone under the day and night. They say that. It is said that it is accepted as such. The sound of "it is said" is to show dissatisfaction. Entering into wrong conduct in between other times is not like that. Doing evil deeds with the intention of doing evil during the day and night is neither a vow nor a non-vow. If that is the case, then for the vows of fasting, even if one enters into an intention that is not a wrong thought only during the day and night, will that not be obtained either? Therefore, the phrase "the vows of fasting are" is extensively stated. The intention to do evil refers to the thought of making vows. Having a subsequent connection means having habitual tendencies. Arising from that (habitual tendency), and because there is the cause of that (habitual tendency), the virtuous mind is also in accordance with that (habitual tendency), which means being in accordance with non-vows. Because it has not been abandoned, it means that the intention to do evil has a subsequent connection. Not abandoning it means not completely abandoning the act of doing evil from the depths of one's heart. That is, even after eating food, the situation of acceptance will occur. Also, if one eats food before accepting, will vows arise or not? If they arise, then the vows depending on manifestation (rnam par rig byed) will be lost, and being sick will also become meaningless. Because of the reason that it was previously taken correctly, one should promise. Therefore, this will not become a day and night. If it does not arise, then even if it is a day and night, it will become accepted. Accumulation and acceptance will not be accomplished, which means speaking previously or simultaneously. The so-called complete eight branches means that only the eight branches are truly accepted, because the branches that are abandoned depend on each other. Precisely because of this, the four different characteristics of those who abandon killing, etc., also...

It changes in just a moment. This is not dependent on whether one abandons a little or a lot. If it is not obtained from that, then it is merely well-practiced. Here, the word "merely" is to differentiate well-practicing the precepts, and this is solely to bring forth a satisfactory result. "For the sake of supplication" is synonymous with the word "extensive." The "etc." in "dance, song, etc." includes music, incense, flower garlands, unguents, and collections of colors. If that is not there, it is wasting time. "Both are not there" refers to fasting and remembrance of weariness. Monastics waste time because they cause laypeople to be weary of worldly life. It will become two, meaning why does it become two? Otherwise, offerings will become seven branches, not eight branches. For example, right view is both the path and a branch of the path, which is extensively explained. Here, in the eightfold path, right view is both the path and a branch of the path, because the path has the characteristic of wisdom. Knowing exhaustion and non-arising are branches of enlightenment. In the discussion of the five branches of meditation and the four branches of meditation, only samadhi is explained as a branch of meditation. The nature of knowing the Dharma of suffering will not become the eighth branch, because there, the previously arisen right view has no branch, so it will become seven branches. Mentioning the first moment is to distinguish it from knowing the Dharma of suffering, etc., because there, the previously arisen right view exists, so it will not become seven branches. The same is true for the branches of enlightenment. The later moment is not a branch of enlightenment, because after that there is no other enlightenment, so it will become that branch. The Venerable Āyasmantarakṣita says: Because of simultaneous arising, right view has incompatible characteristics, therefore the path and the branches of the path are distinguished. Because it is of a flowing nature, it is not the path. If that is the case, then right view is not a branch of the path.
