Now, the one free from attachment does not have subsequent knowledge manifest. If it exists, it is not in the lower realm because they are situated in the side that does not conform to the lineage, and it is not in the upper realm because there cannot be a sequence of not achieving the result. The statement "all aspects are absent" means whether it is included in the path of seeing or included in the path of cultivation, it is said that it is absent in all aspects because it is impossible to have the antidote to the afflictions that act in the desire realm, which is subsequent knowledge. Furthermore, among these ten types of wisdom, which wisdom appears in how many aspects? To this, Dharma-knowledge and subsequent knowledge have sixteen aspects, because they take the four truths as their object, so each truth has four aspects. Conventional knowledge also has sixteen aspects, and it also has other aspects, so it is said. Among them, having sixteen aspects is in the positions of warmth, peak, and forbearance, etc. Having other aspects is in the impure, breathing, arising, and loving-kindness, etc., conventional knowledge is diverse. Because it holds the self-characteristics and common characteristics of all causal dharmas, etc., so it is said, that is, in order to hold the self-characteristics and hold the common characteristics. The word "etc." includes vases and felts, etc., which are neither the self-characteristics nor the common characteristics of dharmas. Even the stainless other-mind wisdom is the same. The statement "likewise" means that just as these four types of wisdom each have four aspects, the uncontaminated other-mind wisdom also has four aspects with its own aspects of truth. The statement "is the knowledge of the aspect of the path" refers to the wisdom that belongs within the path, and is a synonym for "is one side of the path-knowledge." The statement "both are individual objects and realms" means that the nature of mind and mental factors is the path, etc., and their object, the other-mind wisdom, is also the realm of each, although it is the object of self-nature, it is also said to have other aspects, for example, the mind of others.

It is like knowing objects such as attachment. Attachment and so on are the common characteristics of all phenomena arising from the mind. Although this is the case, because they are the objects of individual things, they are not the common characteristics called "the nature of the self-character of knowable things." If so, how does the Blessed One truly know a mind with attachment as a mind with attachment, and similarly know a mind without attachment, a mind with anger, a mind without anger, a mind with delusion, a mind without delusion, a concentrated mind, a distracted mind, a timid mind, a firm mind, a small mind, a large mind, an unpacified mind, a pacified mind, a scattered mind, a non-scattered mind, an uncultivated mind, a cultivated mind, an unliberated mind, and a liberated mind? If he does not grasp attachment, how does he know it as attachment? If he grasps attachment, how does this not contradict the object of each individual thing? It is said that it is like not grasping clothes and dirt at the same time. When one focuses on dirt, one does not grasp clothes and dirt at the same time. When one focuses on clothes, one does not grasp dirt. When one focuses on dirt, it is not clothes, so clothes and dirt are not grasped at the same time. This is said in terms of complete severance. There are two kinds of attachment, which will be explained in detail. Combined attachment arises from manifestation. Associated attachment arises from the acquisition and pursuit of attachment. Attachment is made up of both, namely combined attachment and associated attachment. Furthermore, what is called "with outflows" refers to that which is afflicted and obscured, and that which is unwholesome. Worldly virtue is attachment because it is associated with attachment. Therefore, it is shown that both of these are attachment.

Therefore, it is established in this way. Here, some people's views are stated: In this sutra, the mind that is associated with desire is the one with desire, not just obtaining other contaminated dharmas and being together with them; the antidote to desire is being free from desire. It is also said that not all antidotes that are not mixed with desire are antidotes either. The reason for this is explained: If that which is not associated with desire, only obtaining what is born together with it, becomes free from desire, then it becomes associated with other afflictions, that is, it also becomes associated with afflictions such as anger. Why? Because it is also not associated with desire. In the sutra, it is not said that being associated with hatred, etc., is being free from desire. What is said then? It is said to be associated with hatred, associated with ignorance. The mind that becomes the antidote to desire is not associated with hatred, etc., therefore it is considered to be free from desire. Being associated with hatred, etc., is called being associated with hatred, being associated with ignorance, therefore there is no fault in this. Here, it is intended to explain other faults, therefore it is said, "If it is like this, then." If the mind that is associated with desire is born with desire, and the antidote to desire is being free from desire, then the non-afflicted mind that is not its antidote is neither born with desire nor free from desire. Because it is neither an antidote nor an affliction, therefore it is said to be non-afflicted. Unobscured and unspecified and virtuous dharmas, because they are never associated with desire, are not born with desire themselves, and because they are not the antidote to desire, they are not free from desire either. What is not its antidote? The path of application, etc. The word "etc." also shows that the same fault will occur in the case of being born with hatred and being born with ignorance. Therefore, here it is said, "Because it is associated with desire," because the views of some people just mentioned have
