Pa'o. The discipline pleasing to the noble ones is true purity, the limit of action, and the nature of livelihood. Having known, faith is obtained. Similarly, through the direct realization of arising, both are obtained. Because arising and cause are correctly explained in that very Dharma, whatever manifest conviction there is that "Dharma is verified by a person" is faith having known Dharma. Similarly, through the direct realization of cessation, two are obtained immediately. Faith in Dharma is manifest conviction in whatever is the meaning of cessation. As before, stainless discipline is obtained. When the truth of the path is directly realized, it is extensively explained. Faith in the object of the Dharma of the non-learner, which is the cause of the Thus-Gone One, is faith, which is faith having known. The continuum of the learner is the object of the Dharma of the learner and non-learner. It is manifest conviction through the meaning of faith having known in the Sangha. Therefore, it is called Buddha and Sangha because it causes Buddhahood and Sanghahood. Whatever faith there is in these is faith in the Buddha and Sangha. Although many dharmas such as virtue are explained, in the refuges, only nirvana is explained as Dharma, so doubt arises. Therefore, the question is asked: What do you consider to be Dharma here? In "Three Dharma Truths" and so on, here, the faiths that arise from knowing, because the nature of faith itself is the nature of conviction, whatever dharmas such as suffering are believed, thereby knowing that suffering and arising are cessation. In "It is the path of the solitary Buddha Bodhisattva," the path of the Bodhisattva is that of the learner. The path of the solitary Buddha is that of the learner and non-learner. Because faith arises in its object, when the path is directly realized, it is called faith having known Dharma. Therefore, through the direct realization of the four truths, faith having known Dharma can be obtained. For the sake of seeking the Three Jewels, only the paths of the Bodhisattva and the solitary Buddha are explained as Dharma, but not the Buddha and Sangha. Furthermore, if the path is directly realized, how will faith having known arise in the three? At that time, the objects of the path are all the same.

Therefore, in order to guide, one should cultivate faith by understanding the Dharma. Once this faith manifests, one will obtain many moments of future faith. Among these moments of faith, some are specifically directed towards the Buddha, etc., and some are universally directed towards everything. Among them, those specifically directed are the faith arising from understanding the Three Jewels, and those universally directed are the faith arising from understanding the Dharma. The four kinds of faith are the objects of faith. Through the differences in the objects of faith, faith is divided into three types, and together with the faith arising from understanding discipline, there are four types. Among them, faith is the essence of faith, just like clarity, because there is no impurity, it is called clarity. Therefore, there is no contradiction. For true things, actions will occur extensively, wisdom can truly understand the truth as it is, and faith is trust. Initially, faith is obtained through understanding the Dharma, therefore it is also called discipline. If asked what this order is like? Therefore, it will unfold and explain questions such as "how". Again, if asked why this is manifested in this way? Therefore, the analogy of a doctor, medicine, and nurse is mentioned, a patient is free from illness because they see the doctor, understand the medical texts, and know how to use the medicine correctly, so they first trust the doctor. After that, they trust the medicine, and then trust the nurse, similarly, here, the Bhagavan is like a doctor, as it says in the sutra: "The doctor is the unsurpassed remover of suffering." The Dharma is like medicine, because it can eliminate the disease of afflictions, and it can obtain a state of being without disease like Nirvana. The Sangha is like a nurse, because they help each other to obtain the state of being without disease of Nirvana. Regarding "the discipline done with an extremely pure mind is also extremely pure", the extremely pure mind refers to the Buddha, etc. Finally, it is pointed out that the extremely pure discipline is also produced by it. Therefore, in order to show that it is only the accomplishment of extreme purity, the fourth type is mentioned last. The perfectly enlightened Bhagavan has spoken well.
