The second is called the form realm and the formless realm. In those places, it is said that because it is impossible to have complete decay, thoughts of death, and the transference of faculties. There, because one is completely familiar from other lifetimes, the faculties are extremely mature, and because one has obtained a special basis, there is no complete decay. Because there is no complete decay, there is also no nature of complete decay. Because there is no complete decay, there is nothing to be protected, so there is also no nature of being protected. Because there is no thought of death, there is also no nature of the thought of death. Because there is no cause for complete decay, there is no sorrow, no sorrow corresponding to the thought of death, and no harm to oneself and others. Because there is no transference of faculties, there is no share of realization. Those natures that do not move or shake from their dwelling place do not depend on complete decay, thoughts of death, and the transference of faculties, so it would be a fault to say that only those two exist there. It is said that one will not completely decay from one's own lineage, because the lineage of the nature of complete decay is not produced from practice, like the lineage of the nature of the thought of death, therefore there is no complete decay. From the remainder, there will be complete decay, that is, from whatever is produced from practice. The cause is stated for why lineage and the first will not completely decay, because it is shown by the paths of learning and no-more-learning. Learning, that is to say, learning, for learning, combine with the statement that lineage and the first will not completely decay. For that very reason, the cause is stated, by the worldly and transcendental paths, combine with the statement that it is shown. If that is the case, then whatever is produced from practice, which is shown by the paths of learning and no-more-learning, will also not completely decay? Therefore, only the lineage is similar to that. Others say, for what reason does one not completely decay from the beginning, while what is produced from practice does completely decay. Whatever learning is of the nature produced from practice, that is the very beginning of no-more-learning. Similarly.

With regard to the state of ordinary beings, it should also be discussed in relation to those who are in training. What is meant by "the first fruits" are the fruits of stream-enterer, or once-returner, or non-returner. What is meant by "from the remainder, one will degenerate" is that one will degenerate from that which is not the first. Therefore, there is no complete degeneration from the fruit of stream-enterer, because it is only the first of all, not the second or third. What is meant by "it should be understood that there are five, six, and seven kinds in order" is that those who follow the Dharma have five kinds, namely, those who attain complete nirvana while abiding there, those who transfer their faculties, those who completely degenerate and become trainees, those who return as a result of completely degenerated Dharma, and those who return as a result of thinking of death. Those who do not move from abiding have six kinds, namely, the five mentioned above and those who return as a result of following the Dharma. Those who have a share of realization have seven kinds, namely, the six mentioned above and those who return as a result of not moving from abiding. What is meant by "which lineage is the first" refers to those who start from the stage of training. What is meant by "if he becomes a trainee" is that he completely degenerates from the state of Arhat, and only abides in that, not in others. Whatever the non-learner obtains through practice, the stage of the learner is also obtained through practice. Therefore, degeneration from the state of Arhat does not lead to complete degeneration. Because that is only the beginning of the non-learning state, what need is there to mention what is obtained through practicing the faculties in the state of ordinary beings? What the trainee obtains through practicing the faculties in the state of ordinary beings, therefore, does not completely degenerate. What is meant by "for the sake of obtaining a special lineage" is that for the sake of obtaining the lineage that is led by it, therefore, it does not completely degenerate, but only increases, and does not degenerate. It will be said that the nature of complete degeneration has a share of realization through the practice of faculties.
