The noble Śrāvakas temporarily consider suffering as suffering, which contradicts the extensive Sūtra. Here, the Sūtra states that by completely cutting off the truth with undefiled wisdom, the aspects of suffering and so on are seen. It is also explained in other places with the aspect of selflessness, from the door of seeing suffering up to the path. The statement 'from the door of suffering' and so on should not be said, because it is unnecessary. One consciousness does not produce multiple aspects, because even different characteristics are seen simultaneously as they are in their own nature. In that case, it should undoubtedly be admitted that the truths are gradually realized. No, because one should meditate as one sees. That is to say, on the path of seeing the truths as they are, one should meditate later on the path of meditation as one sees. In some cases, it is not possible to reverse the three truths by proving them in a reversed way with this knowledge of direct perception. Therefore, by specifically excluding the origin, cessation, and path, the aspect of selflessness cannot be an antidote. Since it is fourfold by proving it in a reversed way, it is reasonable to directly perceive it only in that way. Grasping is the very object of suffering. Therefore, its object itself acts with the aspect of selflessness. No, because all the objects of all the truths are selfless, and through the door of not seeing, the cause of attachment entering is pacified, which is cessation. Right view and so on are the path and are decisive. How is this known? If one does not know, how can one see the truth? Or, by seeing one, it is explained extensively. Obtaining power means obtaining the ability to manifest seeing the origin and so on without effort. It should be examined whether there is arising in the interval or not. Some say that because the conditions are not complete, there is arising in the interval. After arising, they also do other things. The three Sūtras with examples refer to what? Then, the householder Anāthapiṇḍada offered to the Blessed One, saying: Venerable Sir,

What is it? Is it gradually realizing the four noble truths? Or, with just one realization, householder, can the four noble truths be gradually realized? It is not with just one realization. Householder, if someone were to say this: Before realizing the noble truth of suffering, I will realize the noble truth of the origin; before realizing the noble truth of the origin, I will realize the noble truth of cessation; before realizing the noble truth of cessation, I will realize the noble truth of the path. If they were to say this, they should be told not to say so. Why is that? Because before realizing the noble truth of suffering, realizing the noble truth of the origin is impossible, there is no opportunity. From "this is impossible" to "this is impossible," it is as before. Up to "this is possible," it is also as before. Householder, for example, if someone were to say this: I will not lay the foundation on the base of a large multi-story house, but I will lay it on the wall; without laying it on the wall, I will lay it on the floor; without laying it on the floor, I will lay it on the roof. If they were to say this, they should be told not to say so. Why is that? Because without laying the foundation on the base of a multi-story house, from "this is impossible" to "there is no opportunity," it is as before. Similarly, householder, as long as one has realized the noble truth of suffering, from... to extensively saying "this is possible." Householder, if someone realizes the noble truth of suffering, and then realizes the noble truths of origin, cessation, and path. If they were to say this, they should be told it is good. Why is that? This is possible, because from the realization of the noble truth of suffering until the realization of the noble truth of the path, this is possible. For example, it is good to lay the foundation on the base of a multi-story house, and proceed until laying it on the floor and the roof. Similarly, householder, with the noble truth of suffering, its function is as before. Therefore, householder, in order to realize the four noble truths that have not yet been realized, one should practice yoga.
