That which is not closely taken and established is the conventional truth. That which is the only one is the ultimate truth. That which is not found when names and so on are analyzed is the conventional truth. That which is found is the ultimate truth, they say. The teacher Samantabhadra says: Does the ultimate, which is the nature of the conventional, exist or not exist in the conventional? If it exists, then it becomes the only true truth. If it does not exist, then it also becomes the only true truth. It will approach the thing called "existence," they say. After saying these words, the venerable Vasubandhu says: The eye that makes one understand the meaning that is not mistaken is the power of the conventional. The so-called ultimate truth is that which exists through the names and realities that are extremely established. Isn't it said to be the only true truth? It is just like that. The ultimate emptiness should not become true. Then, how is the truth itself established? Any difference of the ultimate is close to being established in the conventional, from the nature of the nominal terms of its actions and so on, there are the conventional and the ultimate, but the ultimate is not the conventional. If, apart from the name, it is only another reality, then the pot and the cloth and so on cannot be included in the two truths, therefore, for them, the worldly nominal term is not a valid cognition. The fruits of the separate establishments are not the nature of close taking, and the things that are closely taken by themselves, because they are unspeakable as this or that, therefore there are no separate characteristics, nor does it arise from its classification. Since, from the point of view of reality, there is no classification of it, there is no conceptualization of the pot and so on, for example, because there is no confusion between the conventional and the nature of the conventional, the truth arises. Moreover, since, from the point of view of reality, it is not existence, the reality of the ultimate is also not confused with the nature of reality, therefore it does not fall into the only true truth. The ultimate that has been spoken of is the meaning of existence itself, some differences are called the conventional truth, and some differences are called the ultimate truth. Grasping the meaning in summary without definite grasping is called the conventional truth, from the point of view of the characteristics of definite grasping of the meaning or from the point of view of reality

Holding through the gate of... is called ultimate truth. For example, holding through the gate of the result of contaminated objects is the truth of suffering; holding through the gate of the cause is the truth of the origin. This is not to be combined, but what exists is the nature of the cause of contaminated objects. The nature of the result is also form, etc., that is, the form of pots and cloths, etc. Because form, etc., which exist, are gathered and held, it is counted as the number of existence, so it will be said that the limb and the one with limbs are one. Those who wish to see the truths, because suffering, etc., are shown with many words, and in order to be able to abandon afflictions. Precisely for this reason, in order to distinguish this truth from other truths, the word "noble" is mentioned here. All dharmas are the truth of their own characteristics, truly not inverted. But this is not beyond discrimination, because it is impossible to enter certainty by knowing one's own object. The goodness of one's own characteristics is also like this, from the point of view of knowledge, it is noble. The noble ones truly consider this to be true. This is also the aspect of the four truths, such as the truth of suffering. The first and only refers to the fact that the Bhagavan said that one should rely on discipline, abide in discipline, and thus cultivate the nature of dharma. Therefore, one should be very respectful of discipline first and foremost, and thus cultivate. The discipline here refers to the discipline of wanting individual liberation vows, not the nature of meditation and non-outflow. Therefore, discipline is the cause of non-wavering and also the cause of non-distraction. Hearing is the cause of non-ignorance, and thinking is the cause of reaching the ultimate. Non-wavering is also the cause of subduing through cultivation, that is, eliminating these through discipline, etc., and thus striving in cultivation. In this way, the cultivation here will become very easy. Hearing that is in accordance with seeing the truth, as the extensive explanation says. Having hearing, cultivation will be perfected, because through hearing, all dharmas...
