Herein, there arises what is called the attainment from one to two. Regarding this, how do dull faculties, with respect to the dharmas to be abandoned by seeing in the desire realm, and the dharmas to be abandoned by seeing the three truths in the form and formless realms, in what manner do they attain liberation in six times? Because in those stages, the previous path is abandoned, and the path that was not previously attained is not attained. For the dharmas to be abandoned by seeing the path in the form and formless realms, there are five times. The subsequent knowledge of those paths is also counted as an antidote or a result. For those with sharp faculties, the dharmas to be abandoned by seeing also have five times, except for the dharmas to be abandoned by subsequent knowledge on the path. Those are four times, because sharp faculties do not have a transformation of faculties. For those who are free from desire in the desire realm, the five types of dharmas to be abandoned by cultivation have five instances, except for the fruit of stream-entry. The sixth is four, only its fruit is counted as one as an antidote. The seventh and eighth also have four instances, except for the first two fruits. The ninth is three instances, its antidote itself is the fruit. Except for the peak of existence, those belonging to the form and formless realms also have three instances. From the ninth instance, because one's own antidote arises, among the Arhats who transform faculties, the ninth, the one at the peak of existence, has two instances, because its antidote and fruit are simultaneous. Except for the transformation of faculties among sharp faculties, the periods between four, three, two, and one should be understood by following what was previously said, according to what is appropriate. Furthermore, it is asked, is it not possible to attain liberation from worldly beings from the afflictions of the eighth ground? From the two, because its antidote arises, it is said in this way considering the grounds in order. For the attainment of uncontaminated liberation, attainment, mastery, and so on, there is no detailed explanation here. By the worldly path, going ahead with freedom from desire, in some cases, one can attain liberation from afflictions in six times, because the faculties are sharp, so there is no transformation of faculties for this. To that, whatever is desired.

From the desire realm, as long as five types (of afflictions) are abandoned, one can enter the state of certainty. Among them, from the five types (of afflictions) to be abandoned by the path of seeing, one obtains separation in six instances. From two (afflictions), the antidote arises; from four (afflictions), it is also from the fruits of the ascetic path. From the five types (of afflictions) to be abandoned by the path of meditation, there are five, excluding the first fruit of the ascetic path. For the six types (of afflictions) with detachment from desire as the precursor, similarly for the six types (of afflictions) to be abandoned by the path of seeing, excluding the first fruit. For those to be abandoned by the path of meditation, it is merely through the worldly path, that is, through the arising of one's own antidote. For these, the uncontaminated antidote does not manifest, because its antidote is the path of entering the fruit of once-returner. The seven and eight types (of afflictions) with detachment from desire as the precursor refer to the seven and eight types (of afflictions) to be abandoned by the path of seeing. For the five types (of afflictions), it is only the first fruit. For the six types (of afflictions) to be abandoned by the path of meditation, it is only at one time, as before. For the seventh and eighth (afflictions), it is from the four (afflictions). The arising of two antidotes is from two (afflictions). If detachment from desire in the desire realm is the precursor, and one relies on the path of non-obstruction to enter the state of certainty, then for those to be abandoned by the path of seeing who act in the desire realm, it is from the four (afflictions) as previously stated. Furthermore, if one relies on the basis of the dhyana, then it is only from one (affliction), as before. For those to be abandoned by the path of meditation, relying on the path of non-obstruction, it is from one (affliction). For these, the uncontaminated antidote never manifests, because its antidote is the path of entering the fruit of non-returner. Abiding in the fruit, the path of entering it does not manifest, because it (the path) is inferior. If someone, starting from the first dhyana, detaches from desire in one way, up to the sphere of nothingness, and enters the state of certainty of detachment from desire, then in the seven grounds, from those to be abandoned by the path of seeing, one can obtain separation in four instances, that is, the arising of two antidotes, as well as the fruit of non-returner and the state of arhat. From those to be abandoned by the path of meditation,
